Appleby Frodingham Football Club is a semi professional association football, football club based in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. The club are currently members of the and play at the Brumby Hall Sports Ground. History The original Appleby Frodingham were founder members of the Lincolnshire Football League, Lincolnshire League after World War II. They were the works team of the Appleby-Frodingham Steel Company. In 1978 they joined the Premier Division of the Midland Football League (1889), Midland League. When the league merged with the Yorkshire Football League, Yorkshire League to establish the Northern Counties East League in 1982 they were placed in the Premier Division. The club remained in the Premier Division until the 1985–86 season, during which the management and team moved to Winterton Rangers F.C., Winterton Rangers in mid-season. Scunthorpe () is an industrial town and unparished area in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire in Lincolnshire, England of which it is the main administrative centre. The Midland Football League was a semi-professional football league in England. It acted as a feeder league to the Football League for many years before merging with the Yorkshire League in 1982 to form the Northern Counties East League. Yorkshire Football League
The Yorkshire Football League was the name of two football competitions. The first lasted three seasons in the late 19th century and the second lasted 62 years until merging with the Midland League in 1982 to become the Northern Counties East League. Yorkshire League (1897–1900) History The original league was founded in 1897, and featured ten teams, however it only lasted for two seasons and was dissolved by the end of 1900. It is generally not viewed as the same competition as that which emerged in the 1920s.
