Apach
Apach (german: Apach) is a commune in the Moselle department in Grand Est in northeastern France. Apach is from Sierck-les-Bains, from Thionville, and from Metz. It is on the border of Germany and Luxembourg, the municipalities just across the border being Perl in Germany and Schengen in Luxembourg. A natural reserve for orchids is located along the limestone hillsides, of which there are many in this town. Schengen, Luxembourg
Schengen () is a small wine-making village and commune in far south-eastern Luxembourg, on the western bank of the river Moselle. The commune border includes the tripoint where the borders of Germany, France, and Luxembourg meet. After the mergers with Burmerange and Wellenstein in 2011, the commune has a population of 4,223 with an area of . The largest settlement within the commune of Schengen is Remerschen after which the commune used to be named. The name of the commune was changed in 2006 to take advantage of the Schengen's name recognition after the signing of the Schengen Agreement there in 1985. Schengen Castle dates from 1390 but was almost completely rebuilt in the 19th century. Sierck-les-Bains (, Lorraine Franconian: ''Siirk''/''Siirck'') is a commune in the Moselle department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. Localities of the commune: Rudling, Kœnigsberg (German: Rudlingen, Königsberg) Language Revitalization Sierck-Les-Bains and other municipalities in the Moselle Department of France have attempted some limited projects to protect and revitalize the declining Lorraine-Franconian dialects which were historically spoken in the region. The dialect historically spoken in Sierck is closely related to the Saarländisch dialects and Luxembourgish due to the village’s proximity to the German and Luxembourg borders. Sierck has put up road signs with the Lorraine Franconian name “Siirk” as well as street names in Lorraine Franconian. Such attempts to revitalize the Lorraine Franconian language has also been replicated in other municipalities in the Moselle department such as Hettange-Grande. Thionville
Thionville (; ; german: Diedenhofen ) is a city in the northeastern French department of Moselle. The city is located on the left bank of the river Moselle, opposite its suburb Yutz. History Thionville was settled as early as the time of the Merovingians. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the region was inhabited by the Germanic Alamanni. It was known in the Latin of that era as ''Theudonevilla'' or ''Totonisvilla''. King Pepin the Short had a royal palace constructed here. The Synod of Thionville was held here beginning on February 2, 835.
