Aonghus Callanan
Aonghus Callanan (born 1985) is an Irish sportsman. He played for the Galway senior hurlers from 2005 to 2013. He plays club hurling with Liam Mellows and his gaelic football with Salthill-Knocknacarra. Callanan plays his club hurling with his local Liam Mellows club in Galway. He has had some success at underage level including a Minor A Championship and the club won a senior county championship in 2017. Callanan plays his club football with his local Salthill-Knocknacarra club in Galway. He has success at all grades in underage level and won an All Ireland Club Title in 2006. Liam Mellows GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Renmore, a suburb of Galway (city), Galway City, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. The club is named after IRB member Liam Mellows. On 12 November 2017, Liam Mellows reached their first Galway Senior Hurling Championship final since 1970 after defeating Cappataggle GAA, Cappataggle by 0-13 to 1-9 in Athenry. Salthill-Knocknacarra () is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Salthill and Knocknacarra areas in Galway City, Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. Salthill-Knocknacarra GAA Club caters for huge numbers of young boys and girls and adults who play Football, Hurling, Ladies Football and Camogie in the parishes of Salthill and Knocknacarra. History The club was founded in 1966 under the banner of Cumann Naomh Ciarán. During the 1980s the Club became a major underage force in Galway football under the guidance of Club greats such as Tony Regan and Liam Sammon. The Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT; ga, Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Luimnigh) was an institute of technology, located in Limerick, Ireland. The Galway county hurling team ( ) represents County Galway, Galway in hurling and is governed by Galway GAA, the County board (Gaelic games), county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). Galway Senior Hurling Championship
The Galway Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Brooks Galway Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Galway County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1887 for the top hurling teams in the county of Galway in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Pearse Stadium in November. Initially played as a knock-out competition, the championship currently consists of a group stage followed by a knock-out series of games.
