Anvil Vapre
''Anvil Vapre'' is the fourth EP by British electronic music duo Autechre, released by Warp Records on 2 October 1995. It is a companion to their album ''Tri Repetae'', being based on material from the same sessions, which were left out for space reasons. Unlike previous EPs, ''Anvil Vapre''s tracks were split across two vinyl discs that were released separately. All four tracks are included on the CD pressing. ''Anvil Vapre'' was also released alongside ''Garbage'' as part of the US version of ''Tri Repetae''. The song names are inspired by scenery associated with Snake Pass; Bad Vilbel is a German spa town which is twinned with Glossop. A promotional video for "Second Bad Vilbel" was created by Chris Cunningham. Autechre
Autechre () is an English electronic music duo consisting of Rob Brown and Sean Booth, both from Rochdale, Greater Manchester. Formed in 1987, they are among the best known acts signed to UK electronic label Warp Records, through which all of Autechre's full-length albums have been released beginning with their 1993 debut ''Incunabula''. They gained initial recognition when they were featured on Warp's 1992 compilation ''Artificial Intelligence. Glossop
Glossop is a market town in the Borough of High Peak, Derbyshire, England. It is located east of Manchester, north-west of Sheffield and north of the county town, Matlock. Glossop lies near Derbyshire's borders with Cheshire, Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. ''Gantz Graf'' is a three-track EP released by Autechre in 2002 on CD and 12". A special DVD release was made available featuring the "Gantz Graf" video created by Alex Rutterford, as well as the videos for "Basscadet" (directed by Jess Scott Hunter and edited by D.A. Slade) and "Second Bad Vilbel" (directed by Chris Cunningham, and an updated version from the original), and a slide show of stills from the "Gantz Graf" video. Video The video for Gantz Graf features an abstract object (or an agglomeration of objects) synchronized to the music as it morphs, pulsates, shakes, and finally dissolves. Chris Cunningham
Chris Cunningham (born 15 October 1970) is a British video artist and music video director, best known for his music videos for electronic musicians such as Autechre, Squarepusher, and most notably Aphex Twin on videos for "Windowlicker" and " Come to Daddy", and Björk's "All is Full of Love". All were used in Chris' chapter in Director's Label. He has also created art installations and directed short movies. He was approached to direct a movie version of William Gibson's cyberpunk novel ''Neuromancer''; the project has been in development hell for more than two decades. Bad Vilbel () is a spa town in Hesse (Hessen), Germany, famous for its many mineral water Spring (hydrology), springs. Bad Vilbel is the largest town in the Wetteraukreis district and part of the Frankfurt Rhein-Main Regional Authority, Frankfurt Rhein-Main urban area with its city center being located 8 km northeast of downtown Frankfurt, Frankfurt am Main at the banks of the river Nidda (river), Nidda. Snake Pass
Snake Pass is a hill pass in the Derbyshire section of the Peak District, crossing the Pennines between Glossop and the Ladybower Reservoir at Ashopton. The road was engineered by Thomas Telford and opened in 1821. The pass carries the A57 road between Manchester and Sheffield, but it is no longer the main signposted route between those two cities, with traffic instead directed through the Woodhead Pass to the north. Like several other roads that cross the Pennines, Snake Pass has a poor accident record compared with roads in the UK generally, although more favourable compared with other roads in the area. It is regularly closed in winter because of snow, and has seen several longer-term closures owing to subsidence following heavy rain.
