Anveshane
''Anveshane'' ( kn, ಅನ್ವೇಷಣೆ; en, Search) is a 1983 Kannada movie directed and co-written by T.S. Nagabharana, released in 1983. It starred Anant Nag, Smita Patil and Girish Karnad playing the pivotal roles. Nagabharana remade the movie in Hindi with Om Puri titled ''Bin Bulaye Mehmaan'' (1981), but the film was incomplete. Plot In the mid-1980s, Shaam (Anant Nag) and Revati ( Smita Patil) live in a Vatara (housing complex) with a host of other families and two little girls. A ‘vatara’ is a set of houses that are usually owned by one person and inhabited by many families. Shaam works for a travel agency while Revati is a school teacher. Both are working hard to make ends meet in a social structure that has been making it increasingly difficult for the middle class. Girish Karnad
Girish Karnad (19 May 1938 – 10 June 2019) was an Indian actor, film director, Kannada writer, playwright and a Jnanpith awardee, who predominantly worked in South Indian cinema and Bollywood. His rise as a playwright in the 1960s marked the coming of age of modern Indian playwriting in Kannada, just as Badal Sarkar did in Bengali, Vijay Tendulkar in Marathi, and Mohan Rakesh in Hindi. He was a recipient of the 1998 Jnanpith Award, the highest literary honour conferred in India. For four decades Karnad composed plays, often using history and mythology to tackle contemporary issues. Vijaya Bhaskar
Vijaya Bhaskar ( kan, ವಿಜಯಭಾಸ್ಕರ್; 1924–2002) was an Indian music director and composer who composed music for several mainstream and experimental feature films in the Kannada film industry. Scoring music for over 600 feature films, Bhaskar worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Tulu and Konkani language films as well. He was a part of all of popular Kannada film director KSL Swamy's (Ravi) movies and was also known for his association with acclaimed directors Puttanna Kanagal and Adoor Gopalakrishnan. Karnataka State Film Awards are the most notable and prestigious film awards given for Kannada film industry in Karnataka, India. These are considered the highest awards for Kannada language films. A Vatara ( kn, ವಠಾರ) is a type of housing, similar to an apartment complex, typically found in urban Karnataka, India. Vataras usually are single floor or have two stories, with a row of homes on each floor. They usually have a common corridor in the middle. They are usually occupied by middle-class families and students and typically have a single owner, who may or may not live in the same vatara. Akin to the chawls of Mumbai, it is a typology that has emerged as a cost-effective form of multiple housing. The Sentinelese, also known as the Sentineli and the North Sentinel Islanders, are an indigenous people who inhabit North Sentinel Island in the Bay of Bengal in the northeastern Indian Ocean. Dr Anant Nagarkatte (born 4 September 1948) is an Indian actor whose predominant contribution has been in Kannada cinema. He has acted in over 300 films which include over 200 Kannada films as well as Hindi, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam and English films.
