Anupam Hayat
Anupam Hayat is a Bangladeshi author and film critic. The author of the first textbook on film in Bangladesh titled ''Cholochitra Bidya'', published by Bangladesh Film Study Centre in 2004, Hayat is also credited with another textbook on cinema as an art titled ''Chalachitra Kala'', published by University Grants Commission in 2007. Early life Hayat became interested in writing film criticism by reading articles by late film director Alamgir Kabir in the late 1960s. While he was a student of Journalism and Mass Communication at University of Dhaka, he took the course "Mass communication and motion picture". But, he enriched his writing skill, contributing to various newspapers and magazines on film. University Of Dhaka
The University of Dhaka (also known as Dhaka University, or DU) is a public research university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest university in Bangladesh. The university opened its doors to students on July 1st 1921. Currently it is the largest public research university in Bangladesh, with a student body of 46,150 and a faculty of 1,992. Nawab Bahadur Sir Khwaja Salimullah, who played a pioneering role in establishing the university in Dhaka, donated 600 acres of land from his estate for this purpose. University Grants Commission ( bn, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় মঞ্জুরী কমিশন ''Biśbobidyālaẏ mañjurī komiśan'') of Bangladesh was established on 16 December 1972. It was created according to the Presidential Order (P.O. No 10 of 1973) of the Government of People's Republic of Bangladesh. In 2010, the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) announced bringing out reforms in University Grants Commission (UGC) and decided to change UGC into Higher Education Commission of Bangladesh (HEC). Purpose The UGC is the apex body of all the affiliated public, private and international universities of Bangladesh. It provides funds for "Government Funded Universities" of Bangladesh. Alamgir Kabir (film Maker)
Alamgir Kabir (26 December 1938 – 20 January 1989) was a Bangladeshi film director and cultural activist. Three of his feature films are featured in the "Top 10 Bangladeshi Films" list by British Film Institute. Early life and education Kabir was born on 26 December 1938 in Rangamati. His parents originally hailed from Banaripara Upazila of Barisal. He completed the matriculation in 1952 from Dhaka Collegiate School and the intermediate in 1954 from Dhaka College. After completion of bachelors from the Dhaka University in physics, he went to England to study electrical engineering at Oxford University at the age of 22. Bangladesh Film Development Corporation or BFDC, is a government owned and operated corporation in Tejgaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Nuzhat Yeasmin is the managing director of the corporation. History The organization was founded in 1959 as the East Pakistan Film Development Corporation which was changed to Bangladesh Film Development Corporation after Bangladesh achieved independence in 1971. It signed an agreement with National Film Development Corporation of India in 2016 to jointly produce a documentary on Bangladesh Liberation war.
