A parish is a territorial entity in many Christian denominations, constituting a division within a diocese. The Diocese of Härnösand ( sv, Härnösands stift) is a division in the Church of Sweden in Västernorrland County. The Cathedral is located at Trädgårdsgatan in Härnösand. History The diocese was established in 1647. In 1904, the diocese of Luleå was formed, breaking away from the diocese of Härnösand. Anundsjö Church
Anundsjö church (''Anundsjö kyrka'') is a church in the Diocese of Härnösand belonging to Anundsjö parish in the community of Bredbyn in Västernorrland County, Sweden. History The first church was built in the 13th century and excavations in the 1950s found the remain. A large cross in the cemetery marks the location of this original church. The present church was built in 1437 and is a good example of northern late medieval church architecture. It has a simple rectangular floor plan and consists of nave, porch to the south and the vestry in the north. The church is constructed of stone with a roof covered with thick wood paneling. Entrance is through the porch. The church still has its medieval appearance. The church has paintings on the ceiling that were previously painted over with white paint. Örnsköldsvik Municipality
Örnsköldsvik Municipality (, ) is one of Sweden's 290 municipalities, in Västernorrland County in northern Sweden. Its seat is in the town Örnsköldsvik. The present municipality was created in 1971 by the amalgamation of the ''City of Örnsköldsvik'' with seven former rural municipalities. Geography Örnsköldsvik is situated near the northern end of the "High Coast", which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has the third longest suspension bridge in Europe, the Höga Kusten Bridge. Eilert Dahlberg (born April 2, 1953, in Anundsjö, Sweden), who uses the stage name Eilert Pilarm, is a Swedish Elvis impersonator. He gained fame when he performed on ''Morgonpasset'' on Sveriges Radio in 1992. Career Pilarm self-released several cassettes before his debut CD ''Greatest Hits'' was released in 1996 on MCA. ''Eilert is Back!'' followed in 1998 and ''Live in Stockholm'' appeared in 2000. He stopped performing in 2002 after 600 gigs and six albums. An Elvis impersonator is an entertainer who impersonates or copies the look and sound of American musician and singer Elvis Presley. Professional Elvis impersonators, commonly known as Elvis tribute artists (ETAs), work all over the world as entertainers, and such tribute acts remain in great demand due to the unique iconic status of Elvis. Artedi was born in Anundsjö in the province of Ångermanland. Intending to become a clergyman, he went after schooling in Harnosand, in 1724, to study theology at Uppsala University, but he turned his attention to medicine and natural history, especially ichthyology, a science that he influenced greatly. In 1728 his countryman Carl Linnaeus arrived in Uppsala, and a lasting friendship was formed between the two from 1729 (as Artedi was away due to the death of his father). In 1732 both left Uppsala, Artedi for England, and Linnaeus for Lappland; before parting they reciprocally bequeathed to each other their manuscripts and books in the event of death. Frideborg Winblad
Frideborg Winblad (January 18, 1869 – November 30, 1964) was an elementary school teacher in Härnösand, Sweden, who went on to become Sweden's first female educational administrator. Early life Frideborg was the daughter of Anton Julius Winblad I (1828–1901), the church organist and the first schoolteacher of Ytterlännäs, Sweden; and Elsa Maria Elisabeth Näslund (1829-1907). Elsa's father was the vicar of Ytterlännäs. Frideborg was born in Anundsjö, Västernorrland, Sweden. Ångermanland
Ångermanland ( or ) is a historical province (''landskap'') in the northern part of Sweden. It is bordered (clockwise from the north) by Swedish Lapland, Västerbotten, the Gulf of Bothnia, Medelpad and Jämtland.
