Anton Polenec
Anton Polenec (7 October 1910 – 30 October 2000) was a Slovene zoologist and specialist arachnologist. Polenec was born in Puštal near Škofja Loka in 1910. He studied at the University of Ljubljana and later taught zoology and was head of the Natural History Museum of Slovenia from 1955 to 1980. He studied and described over 500 species of spiders including a new genus '' Centrophantes''. The spider genus '' Polenecia'' is named after Polenec. Apart from scientific contributions he also wrote numerous popular science books for young readers and won the Levstik Award The Levstik Award ( sl, Levstikova nagrada) is a literary award in Slovenia awarded for achievements in children's literature. Puštal (; german: Burgstall''Leksikon občin kraljestev in dežel zastopanih v državnem zboru,'' vol. 6: ''Kranjsko''. 1906. Vienna: C. Kr. Dvorna in Državna Tiskarna, p. 64.) is a settlement on the right bank of the Sora River in the Municipality of Škofja Loka in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. It is connected to the town of Škofja Loka by a road bridge and a well-known wooden footbridge called the Devil's Footbridge ( sl, Hudičeva brv). Name Puštal was first attested in written sources in 1214–20 as ''Purchstallo'' and ''Purchstal'' (and as ''Burchstal'' in 1291 and 1318, ''Bůrchstal'' in 1360, and ''Purgstal'' in 1501). Levstik Award Laureates
Fran Levstik (28 September 1831 – 16 November 1887) was a Slovene writer, political activist, playwright and critic. He was one of the most prominent exponents of the Young Slovene political movement. Life and work Levstik was born in 1831 in Dolnje Retje (now part of the municipality of Velike Lašče) in Lower Carniola (then part of the Austrian Empire, today in Slovenia) in a peasant Slovene family. Levstik was the first notable writer of Slovene epic prose. Among his most known works are the short tale '' Martin Krpan From Vrh'' ( sl, Martin Krpan z Vrha), which became a classic work of Slovene literature, and the itinerary '' A Journey from Litija to Čatež'' (), the main objective of which is a literary manifesto. Spiders ( order Araneae) are air-breathing arthropods that have eight legs, chelicerae with fangs generally able to inject venom, and spinnerets that extrude silk.
