Antoine Joly
Antoine Joly (16 July 1955) is a French politician who served as ambassador to Suriname, CARICOM and Guyana from 2017 until 2021. Biography Joly was born in Le Mans, and graduated from Sciences Po. He started his career for the City of Paris and in 1981 became the head of the Tax and Economic Office. From 28 March 1993 until 21 April 1997, Joly was the deputy for Sarthe's 3rd constituency in the National Assembly. His party affiliation is RPR. From 15 July 2011 until August 2015 he served as French ambassador to Nicaragua. On 17 January 2017 Joly was appointed as the French ambassador to Suriname as well the ambassador for French Guiana to the CARICOM, and non-resident ambassador to Guyana. On 24 March 2020, Joly became the eight case of COVID-19 in Suriname. Joly got infected when he was in a small waiting room of Zorg en Hoop Airport together with a Dutch person who was later diagnosed positive in the Netherlands. Le Mans
Le Mans (, ) is a city in northwestern France on the Sarthe River where it meets the Huisne. Traditionally the capital of the province of Maine, it is now the capital of the Sarthe department and the seat of the Roman Catholic diocese of Le Mans. Lelydorp
Lelydorp is the capital city of Wanica District, located in Suriname. With a population of 18,663 (2012), it is the second largest city in Suriname, after Paramaribo. History Pad van Wanica For centuries the Pad van Wanica (path of Wanica) has been the only road that leads from Paramaribo to the south. How this road came to be is unknown. It is speculated that the original inhabitants established the path. Be that as it may, a road was built there, and on either side of the road parcels were issued away. The oldest part of this road is the northern part of it, which is closest to Paramaribo. Chandrikapersad "Chan" Santokhi ( Sarnami: चान संतोखी; ; born 3 February 1959) is a Surinamese politician and former police officer who is the 9th president of Suriname, since 2020. After winning the 2020 elections, Santokhi was the sole nominee for president of Suriname. On 13 July, Santokhi was elected president by acclamation in an uncontested election. The borders of Suriname consist of land borders with three countries: Guyana, Brazil, and France (via French Guiana). The borders with Guyana and France are in dispute, but the border with Brazil has been uncontroversial since 1906. Eastern border In 1860, the question was posed from the French side, which of the two tributary rivers of the Marowijne River (also called Maroni and Marowini) was the headwater, and thus the border.
