Anselmo Braamcamp Freire
Anselmo Braamcamp Freire (Lisbon, February 1, 1849 – Lisbon, December 23, 1921) was a Portuguese historian, genealogist and politician. A member of the National Constituent Assembly, he became the first president of the (Second) Portuguese Senate. While a historian, he authored a notable study of the life of Vasco da Gama Vasco da Gama, 1st Count of Vidigueira (; ; c. 1460s – 24 December 1524), was a Portuguese explorer and the first European to reach India by sea. Santarém () is a city and municipality located in the district of Santarém in Portugal. The population in 2021 was 58 671,excluding the parish Pombalinho, that changed from the municipality of Santarém to Golegã in 2013 in an area of 552.54 km2. The population of the city proper was 29,929 in 2012. The mayor is Ricardo Gonçalves (PSD). The municipal holiday is March 19, the day of Saint Joseph (''São José'').
