Ans Van Den Berg
Ans van den Berg or Anna Carolina van den Berg (1873–1942) was a Dutch people, Dutch painter known for her still-lifes. Biography Berg was born in Amsterdam on 18 February 1873. She attended the Académie Colarossi in Paris. For over 30 years Berg shared a studio in Amsterdam with Jacoba Surie. Berg was a member of the Amsterdamse Joffers. Her portrait was painted by fellow artist Johanna Bauer-Stumpff which is in the collection of the Rijksmuseum. Van den Berg died on 6 October 1942 in Amsterdam. Académie Colarossi
The Académie Colarossi (1870–1930) was an art school in Paris founded in 1870 by the Italian model and sculptor Filippo Colarossi. It was originally located on the Île de la Cité, and it moved in 1879 to 10 rue de la Grande-Chaumière in the 6th arrondissement. The school closed in the 1930s. History A precursor art school in the same location was the Académie Suisse, founded in 1815. The former Académie Suisse location on the Île de la Cité was bought by Italian sculptor Filippo Colarossi in 1870, and in 1879 it moved to 10 rue de la Grande-Chaumière in the 6th arrondissement. Jacoba Surie
Jacoba Surie (5 September 1879 – 5 February 1970) was a Dutch painter. Surie was born in Amsterdam and trained at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten there, where she studied under Joseph Mendes da Costa. She was a member of Arti et Amicitiae and the Pulchri Studio. She is considered one of the Amsterdamse Joffers. Her work was also part of the painting event in the art competition at the 1928 Summer Olympics. Surie died in Amsterdam and was buried in Zorgvlied. Amsterdamse Joffers
The Amsterdamse Joffers were a group of women artists who met weekly in Amsterdam at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. They supported each other in their professional careers. Most of them were students of the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten and belonged to the movement of the Amsterdam Impressionists. Each one became a successful artist. As a group they contributed to the social acceptance in the Netherlands of women becoming professional artists. Origin and development Beginning In 1894, Lizzy Ansingh and Coby Ritsema began their studies at the ''Rijksacademie'' in a separate class for female students. Around them, a group of young women, mostly fellow-students, came together to found a circle. The purpose was to exchange experiences as women who wanted to become professional artists. Johanna Bauer-Stumpff
Jo Bauer-Stumpff (5 September 1873 – 19 December 1964) was a Dutch people, Dutch painter. Bauer-Stumpff was born in Amsterdam and trained at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten there, where she studied under August Allebé.Jo Bauer in the RKD Her father William Stumpff was director-general at the Royal Dutch theatre. She was a member of Arti et Amicitiae (where she won a medal in 1952) and the ''Hollandse Aquarellisten Kring'' and is considered one of the Amsterdamse Joffers. In 1902 she married the painter Marius Bauer. The couple lived in Villa Stamboel in Aerdenhout and lived in Amsterdam from 1916. They made trips abroad to the Dutch East Indies and Egypt. She stopped painting almost altogether after marriage and cared for her husband. The marriage was childless. After his death, she became more active as an artist again. The Rijksmuseum () is the national museum of the Netherlands dedicated to Dutch arts and history and is located in Amsterdam.
