Anna Espar Llaquet (born 8 January 1993) is a Spanish water polo player who won the gold medal at the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona. She also won the silver medal at the 2012 and 2020 Summer Olympics. College career Espar joined the University of Southern California women's water polo team in 2012. Clara Espar
Clara Espar Llaquet (born 29 September 1994) is a Spanish water polo player who won the silver medal at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest and at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju. College career Espar attended San Jose State University, playing on the women's water polo team from 2014 to 2015. She scored 96 goals as a freshman and 94 as a sophomore being the first player in San Jose State history to score at least one goal in every single match in a season. International career In 2018 she won the gold medal at Mediterranean Games in Tarragona and the bronze at European Championship in Barcelona. Family Espar's older sister, Anni, is also a professional water polo player. Australian National Water Polo League
The Australian Water Polo League is the premier Australian domestic water polo competition. The men's league began in 1990 and the women's league started in 2004. Ten clubs compete in the league, each fielding a women's and a men's team. As of 2021 five clubs are based in Sydney and one each in Adelaide, Brisbane, Fremantle, Newcastle and Perth. The first history of the sport in Australia was launched in February 2009, under the title 'Water Warriors: Chronicle of Australian Water Polo', by Dr. Tracy Rockwell. The 592-page publication features over 1,300 images and is an in-depth reference on water polo in Australia from its first match in 1879 to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Sydney Uni Lions is an Australian club water polo team that competes in the National Water Polo League. They have a men's team and a women's team and are based in Sydney. General information The club's colours are blue and gold, and their major sponsor is Sydney University Sports Union. The team's home pool is the Peter Montgomery Pool at the Sydney University Sports Centre. NCAA Women's Water Polo Championship
The NCAA Women's Water Polo Championship has existed since the 2001 season. Seven conferences have teams competing in women's water polo: the Big West Conference, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA), the single-sport Golden Coast Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA). Some teams compete at Division III either as members of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference or independently. Teams qualify by either winning their respective conference tournament or receiving one of the few at large bids available. 2018 Women's European Water Polo Championship
The 2018 Women's European Water Polo Championship was held from 14 to 27 July 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. The Netherlands won their fifth title by defeating Greece 6-4 in the final. Spain captured the bronze medal after a 12-6 win over Hungary. Qualification Twelve teams were allowed to the tournament.
