Anne McGrath
Anne McGrath (born ) is the National Director of the New Democratic Party (NDP) of Canada. Prior to this, she most recently served as principal secretary to former Alberta Premier Rachel Notley and as Notley's deputy chief of staff. McGrath was president of the New Democratic Party from 2006 to 2009. Background McGrath was born in Aldershot, England to Irish parents. Her family moved to Montreal when she was a child and later to Ottawa. Her father was a school principal and her mother was a teacher. She studied English literature at the University of Ottawa and in 1979–80 she was President of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa. The premier of Alberta is the first minister for the Canadian province of Alberta, and the province's head of government. Ross Harvey
Ross Harvey (born 25 April 1952) is a Canadian politician who was a member of the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 1993. He sat as an NDP MP from 1988 to 1993, representing Edmonton-East. Biography Harvey's background is in information and research. Prior to entering into a career in politics, he was a member of Spiny Norman's Whoopee Band in Edmonton, Alberta while a university student. Calgary-McCall
Calgary-Bhullar-McCall is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, Canada. It was created in 1971, and was named after Frederick McCall and the McCall Industrial Park. As of the 2010 redistricting, the industrial park is no longer in the boundaries. In December 2021, a bill was passed renaming the constituency to Calgary-Bhullar-McCall in remembrance of late MLA Manmeet Bhullar. The district includes the neighbourhoods of Castleridge, Falconridge, Martindale, Saddleridge, and Skyview Ranch, and is noted for its high levels of ethnic diversity. The Alberta New Democratic Party (french: Nouveau Parti démocratique de l'Alberta), commonly shortened to Alberta's NDP, is a social-democratic political party in Alberta, Canada. Edmonton Strathcona (formerly known as Edmonton—Strathcona) is a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1953. 1984 Canadian Federal Election
The 1984 Canadian federal election was held on September 4, 1984, to elect members to the House of Commons of the 33rd Parliament of Canada. In one of the largest landslide victories in Canadian political history, the Progressive Conservative Party (PC Party), led by Brian Mulroney, defeated the incumbent governing Liberal Party led by Prime Minister John Turner. This was the first election since 1958 in which the PC Party won a majority government. Mulroney's victory came as a result of his building of a 'grand coalition' that comprised social conservatives from the West, Red Tories from the East, Quebec nationalists, and fiscal conservatives.
