Anna Giordano Bruno
Anna Giordano Bruno (born 13 December 1980) is a retired Italian track and field athlete who specialised in the pole vault. She won the bronze medal at the 2009 Mediterranean Games and represented Italy at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics. She has also competed at European-level both indoors and outdoors. She was a double Italian record holder in the event with an outdoor best of 4.60 metres and an indoor best of 4.50 m until 17 February 2013. Kristina Gadschiew (born 3 July 1984) is a German pole vaulter who has competed at the World Championship-level. She has also reached the podium at the Summer Universiade on two occasions – 2007 and 2009. She has a personal best vault of 4.66 m indoor. Gadschiew represents the sports club LAZ Zweibrücken. Biography Born in Vassilyevka, Saratov Oblast, Soviet Union, she moved to Germany as a child (as the other pole vaulter Lisa Ryzih). Italy competed at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics, held from August 15 to August 23. On August 3, the Italian national athletics federation (FIDAL) revealed the final team composed of 40 athletes (24 men and 16 women), but on 8 August, after a last test competition in Grosseto, Andrew Howe, in accordance with FIDAL, decided not to compete in Berlin. Just before publishing the team, Faloci, a discus thrower, also decided not to compete. 2009 European Team Championships
The first European Athletics Team Championships took place on 20 and 21 June 2009. The track and field athletics tournament run by European Athletics was the successor of the old European Cup competition which was held annually until 2008. The Championships saw a number of new rules introduced, which were criticised by some athletes and observers.
