Anna Frost
Anna Heather Frost (born 1 November 1981) is a New Zealand trail and ultra runner. Running career Frost turned professional in 2004 and later began running for Team Salomon. In 2012, she won the Transvulcania ultramarathon in the Canary Islands in a record time of 8:11:31., but did not return to defend her title the next year. She finished first at the Speedgoat 50K in Utah in 2012, second at the Ultra Cavalls del Vent in the Pyrenees mountains of Spain, and first at the Maxi-Race in Annecy, France. In June 2013, she won the Trail du Colorado race in Réunion. In 2010, Frost won the overall title in the Skyrunner World Series. The series included wins at the Table Mountain Challenge and the Three Peaks Race, among others. In 2014, Frost won the Bear 100 Mile Endurance Run in Utah in her first attempt at the 100 mile distance. Skyrunning
Skyrunning is a sport of mountain running up to or exceeding where the minimum average incline is 6% over the total distance and at least 5% has an incline of 30% or more. The climbing difficulty does not exceed II grade UIAA. Poles, crampons and hands may be used to aid progress. The governing body is the International Skyrunning Federation. The sport comprises a number of different disciplines from the short, steep Vertical Kilometer to the more popular SkyRace and SkyMarathon. Ultra SkyMarathons are becoming increasingly popular as are short vertical SkySpeed races which include skyscraper racing. SkyRace Comapedrosa
The SkyRace Comapedrosa is an international skyrunning competition held for the first time in 2014. It runs every year in Arinsal, La Massana (Andorra) in July and is a SkyRace part of the Skyrunner World Series. Although the first edition, with its current name, of this race is of the 2014 (and from 2016 inserted in the World Cup circuit), since 2005 the SkyRace, which took place on Mount Coma Pedrosa, took place on a regular frequency every year, and almost always the race was valid for the Skyrunner World Series. The Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run is an ultramarathon in length, with of climb at an average elevation of over . The race is held on a loop course on 4WD roads, dirt trails, and cross country in Southern Colorado's San Juan Range, US. The race is dedicated to the memory of the miners who settled in the area and who built the mining trails on which much of the race is run. The race is directed by Dale Garland. Bear 100 Mile Endurance Run
The Bear 100 Mile Endurance Run is an ultramarathon that traverses the Wasatch and Bear River Ranges west of Bear Lake, from Logan, Utah to Fish Haven, Idaho. With of climb and an average elevation of , it is one of the more difficult ultramarathons. Even so, runners of all skill are attracted to it, largely because of its 36-hour time limit and laid-back attitude (all of the race directors and assistants have participated in the race, and some participate every year). The run is held on the Friday and Saturday before the last full weekend in September. This normally augurs warm fall days and cool nights in spectacular fall color, hence the run's motto "36 Hours of Indian Summer." Three Peaks Race
The Three Peaks Race is a fell race held annually on the last weekend in April, starting and finishing in Horton in Ribblesdale. The course traverses the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The present distance is about 23 miles (37 km). The first known circuits undertaken by athletes, as distinct from walkers, were not made until the winter of 1948/49. Three Leeds climbers, Des Birch, Jack Bloor and Arthur Dolphin, who were also members of Harehills Harriers, completed the course in times varying from 4hrs 27mins to 5hrs 20mins, with Des Birch setting the first record at 4:27. The first race was organised by Preston Harriers and took place in 1954 and it was thought that there was a good chance of Des Birch's time being beaten.
