Anna Bentley
Anna Bentley (born 28 January 1981) is a British foil fencer. She represented Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Career Bentley was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, but grew up in Bergh Apton, Norfolk. She took up fencing at the age of eleven after coach Andrew Sowerby from the Norfolk Academy of Fencing did a "come and try" session at the Norwich High School for Girls. She attended The British School in the Netherlands, leaving in 1999. She qualified to the 2012 Summer Olympics through host country option. In the individual event she was defeated 9–10 in the first round by Canada's Monica Peterson. With Sophie Troiano and Natalia Sheppard represented Great Britain in the team event. They defeated Egypt in the first round, but lost to title favourites Italy, composed of the gold, silver, and bronze medallists of the individual event. Our Greatest Team Parade
The Our Greatest Team Parade was a victory parade to celebrate the achievements of British athletes who competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics. It also recognised the contributions of all the other participants and workers involved in the games. It was held on Monday 10 September 2012 at 1:30pm. The parade took place the day after the closing ceremony of the Paralympics to ensure that the maximum number of athletes were able to participate and to avoid clashing with other commitments. Planning The parade was organised by Mayor of London Boris Johnson in association with the British Olympic Association and the British Paralympic Association. The parade was sponsored by British Airways, BP, BT, the National Lottery and Visa. Chris Anderson (footballer, Born 1925)
Christopher Anderson (30 August 1925 – 27 May 1986) was a Scottish footballer, educator and football administrator. He is best remembered for his time as Vice-Chairman of Aberdeen F.C., where he was regarded as one of the game's most forward-thinking and innovative characters. He was inducted into the Aberdeen FC "Hall of Fame" as one of the founding members in 2003. Playing and coaching career Anderson was born and grew up in Aberdeen, and showed promise as a player from an early age. He was capped by Scotland Schoolboys and joined the Junior team Mugiemoss as a teenager. Bill Struth, manager of Rangers, expressed an interest in the young Anderson, but instead he signed for his local team in 1943. Wartime delayed his senior debut until 1948, and his time as a player at Pittodrie coincided with a lean period in the club's fortunes. Natalia Sheppard (née Więckowska; born 27 May 1984) is a Polish-born British foil fencer, who represented Great Britain at the individual and team events of the 2012 Summer Olympics. Career Sheppard was born in Gdańsk, Poland. She took up fencing when she was ten— her sister Irena is also a fencer, specializing in sabre, and took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Natalia herself won the Polish national foil championships several times and earned a team gold medal at the 2000 Junior World Fencing Championships in South Bend. When she was seventeen she came to the United Kingdom to study at the University of Bath and gave up international competition. She graduated in Mathematics and Computer Science in 2006, then took up law studies. She married a Briton, Gary, in 2007.
