Anju Gurung
Anju Gurung (born 10 April 1994) is a Bhutanese cricketer who plays for the national women's cricket team as a pace bowler. She is currently the vice-captain of the team, and a household name in Bhutan. Early life and career Gurung hails from Gelephu, a small Bhutanese town on the border with India. She first played cricket at the age of 13. One day, her primary school sports teacher announced that a new game named cricket was going to be introduced. Gurung had not even heard of the game, but thought it had an interesting name, and therefore signed up for it. Soon afterwards, she began training and enrolled in training camps. Since starting to play the game, Gurung has been surrounded by balls and bats, and has never looked back. Fast bowling (also referred to as pace bowling) is one of two main approaches to bowling in the sport of cricket, the other being spin bowling. Practitioners of pace bowling are usually known as ''fast'' bowlers, ''quicks'', or ''pacemen''. They can also be referred to as a ''seam'' bowler, a ''swing'' bowler or a ''fast bowler who can swing it'' to reflect the predominant characteristic of their deliveries. The Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS, dz, འབྲུག་རྒྱང་བསྒྲགས་ལས་འཛིན) is the state-owned radio and television service in Bhutan. A public service corporation which is fully funded by the state and it is the only service to offer both radio and television to the kingdom, and is the only television service to broadcast from inside the Bhutanese border. 2022 FairBreak Invitational T20
The 2022 FairBreak Invitational T20 was a women's Twenty20 cricket competition, which took place from 4 to 15 May 2022 in Dubai. The tournament, sanctioned by the ICC, was privately-run by FairBreak Global, a company that aims to promote gender equality. Players from 35 countries were spread across six teams. The tournament was won by Tornadoes, who beat Falcons in the final by 8 wickets. Background The tournament was privately-run by FairBreak Global, with the aim of improving differences in pay, quality of play, and opportunity between men and women in cricket. The 2021 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a cricket tournament that took place in the United Arab Emirates in November 2021. 2019 Thailand Women's T20 Smash
The 2019 Thailand Women's T20 Smash was a women's T20I cricket tournament held in Bangkok, Thailand from 12 to 19 January 2019. The participants were the women's national sides of Thailand, Bhutan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal and United Arab Emirates, as well as a Thailand 'A' side. Matches (except those involving Thailand 'A') were recognised as official WT20I games as per ICC's announcement that full WT20I status would apply to all the matches played between women's teams of associate members after 1 July 2018. Thailand Cricket Ground or Terdthai Cricket Ground is a college ground in Lat Krabang district, Bangkok, Thailand. The Terdthai Cricket Ground (TCG) in Thailand is where Thailand Cricket League matches are played. In 2015, TCG was named as one of the hosts venues of the Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier's along with Asian Institute of Technology Ground. Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) is the shortest form of women's international cricket. A women's Twenty20 International is a 20 overs-per-side cricket match between two of the International Cricket Council (ICC) members. The first Twenty20 International match was held in August 2004 between England and New Zealand, six months before the first Twenty20 International match was played between two men's teams.
