Angusville is a local urban district in the Rural Municipality of Riding Mountain West, Manitoba, Canada. It was named after a pioneer family with the surname Angus. The Trans Canada Trail passes through Angusville. History The Angusville Ukrainian People's Home of Ivan Franko was constructed in 1934 by members of the Ukrainian community of Angusville and surrounding areas. It is adorned with three domes or banyas, of the type more typically seen in Ukrainian church architecture. Only a few national homes in Manitoba possess this feature. The Rural Municipality of Riding Mountain West is a rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is located in Manitoba's Parkland region, between Riding Mountain National Park near the province's western border with Saskatchewan. History The Rural Municipality of Riding Mountain West was incorporated on January 1, 2015, via the amalgamation of the RMs of Shellmouth-Boulton and Silver Creek. It was formed as a requirement of '' The Municipal Amalgamations Act'', which required that municipalities with a population less than 1,000 amalgamate with one or more neighbouring municipalities by 2015. The Government of Manitoba initiated these amalgamations in order for municipalities to meet the 1997 minimum population requirement of 1,000 to incorporate a municipality. Russell, Manitoba
Russell is an unincorporated urban community in the Municipality of Russell – Binscarth, Manitoba. It is located along PTH 16 and PTH 83, and is at the western terminus of PTH 45. Russell is approximately east of the Saskatchewan border and northwest of Winnipeg. The community is home to 1,611 people as of the 2011 census. The community was designated as a town prior to 1 January 2015, when it and the nearby Village of Binscarth amalgamated with the Rural Municipality of Russell. Russell is the home of Manitoba's Beef and Barley Festival, which is held annually in October to celebrate the region's strong agricultural tradition. The Trans Canada Trail, officially named The Great Trail between September 2016 and June 2021, is a cross-Canada system of greenways, waterways, and roadways that stretches from the Atlantic Ocean, Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, Pacific to the Arctic Ocean, Arctic oceans.
