Anglesea (EP)
''Anglesea'' is the debut EP by Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. It was released on 26 May 2011. The EP features the simple lyrical style and noisy arrangements found throughout many of King Gizzard's earliest songs. It was initially released on CD, and was not available digitally until the EPs inclusion on the '' Teenage Gizzard'' compilation, a collection of pre-''Willoughby's Beach'' tracks. Background King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard started off as an informal jam band, playing shows to a small number of people around Melbourne and Geelong playing the few songs they had. During this time, at Stu Mackenzie's parents house, the band borrowed a bunch of microphones and set them up in the garage and recorded the few tracks they had been playing live. Mackenzie has stated that he does not believe the record counts, not being sure whether Cook Craig or Ambrose Kenny-Smith were in the band yet, saying nobody should listen to it. Title It is ... King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are an Australian rock band formed in 2010 in Melbourne, Victoria. The band's current lineup consists of Stu Mackenzie, Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Cook Craig, Joey Walker, Lucas Harwood and Michael Cavanagh. They are known for exploring multiple genres, staging energetic live shows and building a prolific discography, having released 23 studio albums, 14 live albums, three compilations and three EPs. Anglesea, Victoria
Anglesea is a town in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Great Ocean Road in the Surf Coast Shire local government area. In the , Anglesea had a population of 2,545 people. Originally known as Swampy Creek, the area's name was changed to Anglesea River in 1884 when the township was established. A Post Office under that name opened on 16 April 1886. and was renamed Anglesea in 1950. The name derives from Anglesey, an island in North Wales. Alcoa of Australia operated a power station and open-cut coal mine near the town from 1969 until August 2015. The site is now the subject of restorative work. Jam Band
A jam band is a musical group whose concerts (and live albums) are characterized by lengthy improvisational "jams." Stu Mackenzie
Stuart Douglas Mackenzie is an Australian musician best known as the frontman of psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. Early life Mackenzie grew up and went to school in Geelong. His father played guitar to him and his brother growing up, which influenced young Mackenzie. Due to his father being a left-handed guitar player, Mackenzie originally learned to play guitar upside down. His early influences were AC/DC, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Paul Kelly. He began playing guitar and other instruments at age 15. He was later influenced by heavy metal artists like Rammstein, Kreator, Sodom, Slayer and Metallica, but found the style too difficult to play on guitar, so played garage rock and rock and roll.
