Angelo Perera
Angelo Kanishka Perera (born 23 February 1990), or Angelo Perera, is a former professional cricketer, who played limited over cricket for Sri Lanka. He is a right-handed batsman and left-arm slow bowler who plays for Nondescripts Cricket Club. He was born in Moratuwa and attended to St Peter's College, Colombo. In 2019, he became only the second batsman after Arthur Fagg to score double centuries in both innings of any first class match. Perera retired from international cricket in January 2022, having last playing for the national team in 2019. Early career Perera made his cricketing debut in a Bangladesh Under-19s tour of Sri Lanka in 2007, and later played in a series against Sri Lanka. He played in two warm-up matches and two competition matches in the 2007-08 Under-19s World Cup, scoring 9 runs in two innings. Moratuwa
Moratuwa ( si, මොරටුව, ta, மொறட்டுவை) is a large suburb of Colombo, on the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka, near Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia. It is situated on the Galle–Colombo (Galle road) main highway, south of the centre of Colombo. Moratuwa is surrounded on three sides by water, except in the north of the city, by the Indian Ocean on the west, the Lake Bolgoda on the east and the Moratu river on the south. According to the 2012 census, the suburb had a population of 168,280. St Peter's College, Colombo
St. Peter's College ( Sinhala: සාන්ත පීතර විදුහල, Tamil: செயிண்ட் பீட்டர் கல்லூரி) is a Roman Catholic boys-only primary to secondary (inclusive) school in the Bambalapitiya zone of Colombo, Sri Lanka, founded in 1922. In 1919, just after the end of World War I, Fr. M. J. Le Goc, Rector of St Joseph's College, Colombo, wanted to start a college in the southern suburbs of Colombo, and acquired a block of cinnamon land in Bambalapitiya. Construction began on 7 July 1921 under the supervision of J. R. J. Jayesuria, an alumnus of St. Joseph's College. In December 1921, Le Goc announced that St. Joseph's College South would open in January 1922. The buildings were designed by Le Goc, and were built in six months. 2019–20 Invitation Limited Over Tournament
The 2019–20 Invitation Limited Over Tournament was a List A cricket competition that took place in Sri Lanka. It ran from 14 to 31 December 2019, with twenty-five teams taking part. It was the first edition of the Invitation Limited Over Tournament, replacing the Premier Limited Overs Tournament, after Sri Lanka Cricket failed to approve the latter due to delays in their domestic cricket structure. Sinhalese Sports Club won the last edition of the Premier Limited Overs Tournament. 2019 Super Provincial One Day Tournament
The 2019 Super Provincial One Day Tournament was a List A cricket tournament that was played in Sri Lanka between 4 and 11 April 2019. Four teams took part in the competition: Colombo, Dambulla, Galle and Kandy, with Galle being the defending champions. Initially, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said that players would only be considered for the 2019 Cricket World Cup if they played in this tournament. Lasith Malinga was originally expected to play in the tournament and miss out on some part of the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL). The SLC then changed its stance, granting permission for Malinga to miss the tournament and play in the IPL. However, days before the start of the tournament, Malinga was listed as playing in a press release issued by Sri Lanka Cricket. Essex County Cricket Club
Essex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Essex. Kent County Cricket Club
Kent County Cricket Club is one of the eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Kent. A club representing the county was first founded in 1842 but Kent teams have played top-class cricket since the early 18th century, and the club has always held first-class status. The current Kent County Cricket Club was formed on 6 December 1870 following the merger of two representative teams. Kent have competed in the County Championship since the official start of the competition in 1890 and have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. 2018–19 Premier League Tournament
The 2018–19 Premier League Tournament was the 31st season of first-class cricket in Sri Lanka's Premier Trophy. The tournament started on 30 November 2018 and concluded on 10 February 2019. Fourteen teams took part in Tier A of the competition, split into two groups of seven. Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club finished in last place in the previous tournament, and were relegated to Tier B for this season. Negombo Cricket Club replaced them for this years' competition after they won the 2017–18 Premier League Tournament Tier B title. Chilaw Marians Cricket Club were the defending champions. 2018 SLC T20 League
The 2018 SLC T20 League was a domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament that was held in Sri Lanka, between 21 August and 2 September 2018. Four teams took part in the tournament: Colombo, Dambulla, Galle and Kandy. The Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium and the R. Premadasa Stadium hosted all the matches. The third match, between Colombo and Kandy, finished as a tie, therefore going to a Super Over to determine the winner. However, the match was still tied after the Super Over, with both teams scoring five runs each. Colombo were declared the eventual winners, as they had scored the most boundaries. Colombo were the first team to qualify for the final, after remaining unbeaten in their first four matches. They were joined in the final by Dambulla, who finished second in the group stage. The 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament was a List A cricket tournament that was played in Sri Lanka between 2 May and 10 June 2018, following the conclusion of the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament. Four teams took part in the competition: Colombo, Dambulla, Galle and Kandy. Galle and Colombo qualified for the final, after they finished first and second respectively in the group stage. The final was originally scheduled to take place on 20 May 2018, but Sri Lanka Cricket issued a statement via Twitter to say that it was postponed indefinitely due to bad weather. The final was eventually played on 10 June 2018, at the Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, after nearly a delay of one month. The 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament was a first-class cricket tournament, that was played in Sri Lanka during March and April 2018. It took place following the conclusion of the 2017–18 Premier League Tournament and featured four teams based on the Centers of Excellence in Sri Lanka. It was the first time this type of tournament has been played in Sri Lanka since 2013. Galle won the tournament, finishing ahead of Dambulla, despite Dambulla winning a game, with Galle drawing all their fixtures. Jehan Mubarak
Jehan Mubarak ( ta, ஜெகன் முபாரக்; born 10 January 1981) is an American-born former professional Sri Lankan cricketer, who played all formats of the game. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm offbreak bowler. Personal life The son of Azeez Mohamed Mubarak, a first-class cricketer himself and later a prominent scientist, Mubarak was born in Washington, D.C., making him, with West Indian Ken Weekes, one of only two Test cricketers born in the United States.
