Angela Grauerholz
Angela Grauerholz D.F.A. (born January 10, 1952) is a German-born Canadian photographer, graphic designer and educator living in Montreal. Biography Grauerholz was born in Hamburg and completed studies in graphic design at the Kunstschule Alsterdamm there and studied literature and linguistics at the University of Hamburg. She came to Canada in 1976 and, with the help of a grant from the Canada Council, completed a MFA degree in photography at Concordia University. During the 1980s, she operated a graphic design studio, working on magazines, catalogues and books. In 1988, she began teaching graphic design at the Université du Québec à Montréal; in 2008, she became director of the Centre of Design there. She was one of the founders of the Artexte Information Centre in 1980. She has digitized much of her own work as well as her personal archive of images from newspapers and other sources. Emily Carr University of Art + Design (abbreviated as ECU) is a public art university located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The university's campus is located within the Great Northern Way Campus in Strathcona. The university is a co-educational instutiton that operates which operates four academic faculties, the Faculty of Culture + Community, the Ian Gillespie Faculty of Design + Dynamic Media, the Audian Faculty of Art, and the Jake Kerr Faculty of Graduate Studies. The Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography (CMCP) (french: Le Musée canadien de la photographie contemporaine (MCPC)) was a gallery of Canadian contemporary art and documentary photography. Founded in 1985 and affiliated to the National Gallery of Canada (NGC), it was housed at the National Gallery of Canada, located at 380 Sussex Drive, Ottawa. The CMCP did not have a permanent home until it moved to its purpose-built site at 1 Rideau Canal in 1992. The Pavilion entrance building, which was opened on May 7, 1992, was originally proposed by architect Michael Lundhom, who adapted an old railway tunnel running alongside the Chateau Laurier. The Carnegie International is a North American exhibition of contemporary art from around the globe. It was first organized at the behest of industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie on November 5, 1896 in Pittsburgh.
