"Angel In Disguise" is a 1940 in music, 1940 pop hit from the Warner Bros. movie ''It All Came True'' with music by Paul Mann and Stefan Weiss and lyrics by Kim Gannon. It was sung in the movie by Ann Sheridan. It was also played during the opening credits and as background music and later it was reprised by the band at the night club and again sung by Ann Sheridan and chorus of waiters. The tune became a staple of the Warner Bros. Looney Tunes shorts, including appearances in 1942's ''The Wabbit Who Came to Supper'', 1943's ''Yankee Doodle Daffy'', and 1948's ''Back Alley Oproar''. Dick Todd (singer), Dick Todd had a hit version of it in 1940, reaching the No. 13 spot in the charts. ''It All Came True'' is a 1940 American musical comedy crime film starring Ann Sheridan as a fledgling singer and Humphrey Bogart, who was third-billed on movie posters, as a gangster who hides from the police in a boarding house. It is based on the Louis Bromfield novel ''Better Than Life''. Sheridan introduced the hit song " Angel in Disguise". The picture was produced by Mark Hellinger and directed by Lewis Seiler. Paul Mann
Paul Mann (December 2, 1913 – September 24, 1985) was a Canadian film and theater actor, as well as founder of the Paul Mann Actor's Workshop. His brother was the actor Larry D. Mann. Biography Mann was influential in developing the concept of Method acting in America. While many other Method advocates (including Lee Strasberg) shared their knowledge at the Actors Studio, Mann taught his own classes at his Actor's Workshop, founded in 1953. Along with Lloyd Richards (a fellow Toronto native and chief assistant director of the school), Mann also managed to create a comfortable atmosphere for actors of all races. Alumni of his school include Ruby Dee, Billy Dee Williams, Ossie Davis, Sidney Poitier, Al Lewis, and Vic Morrow. Kim Gannon
James Kimball "Kim" Gannon (November 18, 1900 – April 29, 1974) was an American songwriter, more commonly a lyricist than a composer. Biography Gannon was born in Brooklyn, New York to an Irish-American family from Fort Ann in upstate New York, but grew up in New Jersey where he attended Montclair High School and was a member of The Omega Gamma Delta Fraternity. He graduated from St. Lawrence University and, intending to become a lawyer, attended the Albany Law School, passing the bar examination in New York State in 1934. In 1939 he wrote his first song, "For Tonight". His 1942 song, "Moonlight Cocktail", was recorded by the Glenn Miller Orchestra and was the best-selling record in the United States for 10 weeks. In 1942 he began writing songs for films, beginning with the lyrics of the title song for '' Always in My Heart.'' ''The Wabbit Who Came to Supper'' is a 1942 ''Merrie Melodies'' cartoon featuring Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd. It was released on March 28, 1942, and directed by Friz Freleng. Plot Elmer's hunting dogs have Bugs cornered when Elmer receives a telegram that says that his uncle, Louie, is dying and promises him $3 million in his will, but only if he doesn't harm any animals, especially rabbits. Elmer sets Bugs free and heads home. When Elmer arrives home, he hears Bugs singing in the shower and tries to kill him, but Bugs pokes out a sign that reminds Elmer of Uncle Louie. Elmer tries to get Bugs to leave the house and eventually tricks him out. Bugs then pretends to die of " p-neumonia", causing Elmer to take him back in, fearing that he may have lost his chance to receive the money. ''Yankee Doodle Daffy'' is a Warner Bros.'' Looney Tunes'' theatrical cartoon short released on June 5, 1943, directed by Friz Freleng and written by Tedd Pierce. The short was the second Technicolor ''Looney Tunes'' entry to feature Porky Pig and Daffy Duck (after ''My Favorite Duck''). It is also one of the handfuls of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies to have fallen into the public domain. None of the voice actors were credited on screen. Mel Blanc performed most of the voices, while Billy Bletcher sang "In the Garden of My Heart" as Sleepy Lagoon. Richard Bickenbach received screen credit as animator, but other animators working on the film were Jack Bradbury, Gerry Chiniquy, Phil Monroe and Manuel Perez. Owen Fitzgerald was the layout artist, Paul Julian painted the backgrounds, and Lloyd Turner was the in-between artist. ''Back Alley Oproar'' is a Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' animated short directed by Friz Freleng The short was released on March 27, 1948, and features Sylvester and Elmer Fudd. The title is a play on "uproar" and "opera". This is a rare exception for Sylvester as he wins in this cartoon. It is a remake of Freleng's ''Notes to You'' (1941). Plot Elmer is ready for bed, but Sylvester has other plans as he starts singing in Elmer's back yard - an exaggeration of common cat-howling disturbances. A series of gags play out, as Elmer tries everything up his sleeve to get rid of the pest. He eventually confronts Sylvester, but before Elmer can blast him with his shotgun, Sylvester sings a sweet, gentle lullaby to ease him into a deep sleep, even managing to tuck Elmer back into bed. Dick Todd (singer)
Dick Todd (August 4, 1914 – May 1973) was a Canadian pop singer, most active from the 1930s to 1950s. He was nicknamed the Canadian Crosby, due to his supposed vocal similarity to Bing Crosby, and was born in Montreal. Early years Todd sang in school programs as early as age 6. When he was 14, he worked as a log driver in a lumber camp. His public schooling came at Macdonald Campus of McGill University and went on to study engineering at McGill. where he also played football. (Another source says that he was a music major at McGill.) Radio Todd sang on a radio program in Canada in 1933. After he came to the United States in 1938 to sing on broadcasts of Larry Clinton's orchestra, Todd became a favourite with radio listeners across the country.
