Andrew Thorby is a British racecar designer. Thorby designed many formula racing and Le Mans Prototype cars. History Lola Cars After graduation lawschool Thorby joined Specialised Mouldings Ltd. in Huntingdon in 1974. Specialised Mouldings Ltd. fabricated plastic and fibreglass body panels. Thorby joined Lola Cars in 1977 to follow his passion, designing cars. The Lola T500, built for the 1979 SCCA/CART Indy Car Series was one of the first cars Thorby worked on. Al Unser won the final race of the season in the Lola T500. Thorby designed Lola's first endurance sports car racer since the Lola T70. The British designer worked directly with Eric Broadley. The T600 was first introduced in 1981 and was the first Lola with a full-length monocoque. The car was designed to accommodate several different engine types such as Chevrolet, Porsche and Cosworth. The Thruxton Circuit is a motor-racing circuit located near the village of Thruxton in Hampshire, England, United Kingdom, about 30 miles north of Southampton. It has hosted motorsport events including the British Touring Car Championship, British GT Championship, British Formula One Championship, British Formula Three, and GB3 Championship. It is often referred to as the "Fastest Circuit in the UK" where drivers can reach speeds of over and has earned the reputation of being a true driver's track. 1992 British Formula Three Season
The 1992 British Formula Three season was the 42nd British Formula Three Championship, won by Brazilian Gil de Ferran. The season started on 22 March at Donington Park and ended on 4 October at Silverstone following sixteen races. Dutch driver Marcel Albers died following a large crash during the third round at Thruxton. 1992 was the final season of British F3 in which the champion did not drive a Dallara chassis, and the first of six titles in seven years for Paul Stewart Racing. Class B was won by British driver Paul Evans. Drivers and Teams The following teams and drivers were competitors in the 1991 season. Class B is for older Formula Three cars. Marcel Albers
Marcel Albers (April 29, 1967 – April 20, 1992) was a Dutch motor racing driver. Having progressed through the ranks of the Dutch formulae, including a Formula Ford championship win in 1989, Albers moved to the Opel Euroseries for 1990, going on to finish a creditable sixth in the championship. A move to British Formula Three for 1991 followed and again impressed, finishing fifth in the championship. He also finished third at the prestigious Marlboro Masters, finishing behind Scotsman David Coulthard and Spain's Jordi Gené. These performances had installed Albers to be one of the title favourites for the 1992 British championship. After a win in the opening round at Donington Park, Marcel retired from the second round at Silverstone and then qualified on the front row for round three. Ralt
Ralt was a manufacturer of single-seater racing cars, founded by ex-Jack Brabham associate Ron Tauranac after he sold out his interest in Brabham to Bernie Ecclestone. Ron and his brother had built some specials in Australia in the 1950s under the Ralt name (standing for Ron and Austin Lewis Tauranac). All-Japan Formula 3 Championship
was a national motor racing championship that takes place in Japan. It is a junior-level feeder formula that uses small single seater Formula Three chassis. As a result of Formula 3 naming regulations by the FIA, on 13 August 2019, series promoter Japan Race Promotion (jp), split from the Regional Formula 3 formula and rebranded their series as Super Formula Lights to comply with FIA regulations, and remain as the Super Formula feeder championship since the series is prohibited from using "Formula 3" (which belongs to the FIA for the European-based FIA Formula 3 Championship) and "Formula Regional" (which all regional Formula 3 series are being renamed by the 2020 season, first with the Formula Regional European Championship in 2019 for Europe, and the renaming of the North American F3 championship from Formula 3 Americas to Formula Regional Americas Championship). Paulo Carcasci (born 7 January 1964 in Sao Paulo) is a former Brazilian racing driver. Carcasci won the 1985 European FF 1600 Championship '','' 1988 BBC FF2000 Championship, 1991 All-Japan Formula Three Championship and the Gold Cup in Formula 3000. Racing career Carcasci started his auto racing career in Europe in the Formula Ford 1600 in 1985. Rickard Rydell (born 22 September 1967) is a retired Swedish racing driver. He won the 1998 British Touring Car Championship, the 2011 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, and has also been a frontrunner in the European/World Touring Car Championship.
