Andrés Salgado
Andrés Salgado Gómez (born December 2, 1991) is a Mexican professional gridiron football wide receiver who is a free agent. He most recently played for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at UNAM and previously for the Condors CDMX of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA), a professional spring football league in Mexico, before being drafted by the Calgary Stampeders. Early career Salgado played in youth categories at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. In 2011, he was selected as the only Mexican to be considered for the Rest of the World team that played against the best high school players from the United States in an exhibition match as part of the activities of the Super Bowl XLV. The National Student Organization of American Football ( or ''ONEFA'') is the major college football league in Mexico. American football has been played in Mexico since the early 1920s in different colleges and universities, mainly in Mexico City. In 1928 the first professional championship was played, organized by Jorge Braniff. From the 1920s to the 1970s more universities and colleges joined the championship, and four categories, called ''fuerzas'' were created. The First ''Fuerza'' became the National League in 1970, and in 1978 it was reorganized under the name ONEFA. In 2010 a breakaway league, CONADEIP, was formed by the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education system, UDLAP and additional private universities. In 2017, the leagues started staging regular season matches and a National Championship. Marquay McDaniel
Marquay McDaniel (born April 20, 1984) is a former professional Canadian football wide receiver. He played for 10 seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL), six with the Calgary Stampeders and four with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He was originally signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2007. McDaniel was named a CFL All-Star in 2013, and won a Grey Cup championship in 2014. He played college football for the Hampton Pirates. Professional career Hamilton Tiger-Cats In his rookie season McDaniel played in all 18 games and led the CFL with 2,535 all-purpose yards. 2019 CFL–LFA Draft
The 2019 CFL–LFA Draft took place on January 14, 2019. 27 players were chosen from an invited pool of 51 Mexican players: 34 from the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA) (a professional American football league) and 17 seniors from Mexican university teams. Background In October 2018, Canadian Football League commissioner Randy Ambrosie outlined a plan to grow the CFL's presence, which he dubbed CFL 2.0, including growth internationally. In November 2018, the LFA signed a non-binding Letter of Intent with the CFL to share resources and to allow for at least one CFL game to be played in Mexico, as wells as lay the ground work for special Mexican-specific editions of the CFL Combine and CFL Draft.
