Andrés Sabella
Andrés Sabella (1912–1989) was a Chilean writer, cartoonist, journalist and poet. Biography Andrés Sabella's was born to Palestinian-Italian Andrés Sabella Signora, and Carmela Gálvez Tello. His mother died when he was six years old. He completed his primary and secondary education at the St. Aloysius College, Antofagasta where his classmate was Radomiro Tomic. Sabella began writing at the age of 14. In 1929, he published Carcaj, Antofagasta's first poetic anthology. In the following year he published his first book titled, ''Rumbo indeciso''. Radomiro Tomic
Radomiro Tomic Romero (7 May 1914 – 3 January 1992) was a Chilean politician of Croatian origin. He was one of the most prominent leaders of that country's Christian Democratic Party. Born in Calama, Tomic received his law degree from the Universidad Católica de Chile (UC), where he first became involved in political activity, in the Social Christian Party. One of the co-founders in 1938 of the Falange Nacional (later the Christian Democrat Party of Chile or PDC), he became president of the party 1946–1947 and 1952–1953. He was married to Olaya Errázuriz Echenique, and together they had 9 children. Among other activities Tomic was director of the newspaper '' El Tarapacá'' of Iquique (1937–1941) and later of the '' Editorial del Pacífico''. Antofagasta
Antofagasta () is a port city in northern Chile, about north of Santiago. It is the capital of Antofagasta Province and Antofagasta Region. According to the 2015 census, the city has a population of 402,669. After the Spanish American wars of independence, Bolivia claimed Antofagasta as part of its territory. Despite having an overwhelmingly ethnic Chilean population, Chile recognised Bolivian sovereignty of Antofagasta in 1866, but in 1879 Chile recanted its recognition of Bolivian sovereignty citing a Bolivian breach of the latest boundary treaty. Antofagasta was captured by Chile in February 14 1879 triggering the War of the Pacific (1879–83).
