András Ágoston
András Ágoston ( sr, Андраш Агоштон, translit=Andraš Agošton; born 1944) is a Serbian retired politician. An ethnic Hungarian, he led the Democratic Party of Vojvodina Hungarians from its foundation in 1997 to 2012. He was one of the leaders of the coalition " Hungarian Union" on 2007 Serbian parliamentary election together with Sándor Páll that won no seats. He was then a member of the "Hungarian Coalition" together with István Pásztors Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians and Sándor Pálls Democratic Fellowship of Vojvodina Hungarians, created for the purpose of the 2008 Serbian parliamentary election Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 11 May 2008 to elect members of the National Assembly. Hungarians ( hu, Szerbiai magyarok, sr, Мађари у Србији, Mađari u Srbiji) are the second-largest ethnic group in Serbia. According to the 2011 census, there are 253,899 ethnic Hungarians composing 3.5% of the population of Serbia. The vast majority of them live in the northern autonomous province of Vojvodina, where they number 251,136 or 13% of the province's population, and almost 99% of all Hungarians in Serbia. 2007 Serbian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 21 January 2007 to elect members of the National Assembly. The first session of the new National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia was held on 14 February 2007. The elections enabled the coalition of DS; DSS & G17+ to continue. Electoral system The d'Hondt method was used to distribute parliamentary mandates following the election. Parties and coalitions had 10 days following the announcement of the final results to decide which candidates will take their allotted seats in parliament. Parties then had three months to negotiate a government. Parties registering as ethnic minority parties (options 8, 10, 14, 17, 19 and 20) did not need to surpass the 5% threshold to gain seats in the parliament, but instead needed to pass a natural threshold at 0.4%. Sándor Páll
Sándor Páll ( Serbian: Шандор Пал, ''Šandor Pal'') (15 February 1954, Bačko Petrovo Selo – 7 July 2010, Novi Sad) was an ethnic Hungarian politician in Serbia and leader of Democratic Fellowship of Vojvodina Hungarians. Born in Bačko Petrovo Selo in Serbia to Hungarian father and Serbian mother, he graduated in 1977 as a teacher of Yugoslav literature at the University of Novi Sad and got his MB in 1988. Formerly a schoolteacher, he was afterwards a professor at the University of Novi Sad. He died in Novi Sad, Serbia on 7 July 2010 at the age of 56. Along with András Ágoston, he was one of the leaders of the coalition " Hungarian Union" which contested the 2007 Serbian parliamentary election, but won no seats. István Pásztor (; sr, Иштван Пастор, Ištvan Pastor; born 20 August 1956) is a Serbian politician who has been the president of the Assembly of Vojvodina since 2012. An ethnic Hungarian, he has led the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians since 2008. He graduated from the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Law. Currently, Pásztor is the chairman of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians and president of the Assembly of Vojvodina. He was formerly a leader of the Hungarian Coalition, which also included two other ethnic Hungarian political parties in Serbia. Pásztor was the candidate of the Hungarian Coalition in the 2008 Serbian presidential election.
