Andrie Steyn
Andrie Steyn (born 23 November 1996) is a South African cricketer who has played 33 One Day Internationals and five Twenty20 International for South Africa since 2014. In March 2018, she was one of fourteen players to be awarded a national contract by Cricket South Africa ahead of the 2018–19 season. In September 2019, she was named in the Devnarain XI squad for the inaugural edition of the Women's T20 Super League in South Africa. On 23 July 2020, Steyn was named in South Africa's 24-woman squad to begin training in Pretoria, ahead of their tour to England. In April 2021, she was part of the South African Emerging Women's squad that toured Bangladesh. In August 2021, Steyn was named as the captain of the South African Emerging team for their series against Thailand. In June 2022, Steyn was named in South Africa's Women's Test squad for their one-off match against England Women. The Women's T20 Super League is a women's domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament organised by Cricket South Africa. The tournament began in September 2019, with four teams taking part; these teams were renamed for a second competition in December 2019. The third competition took place in December 2020, which was won by Coronations (women's cricket), Coronations. The competition took place again in December 2022, with no overall winner crowned due to the amount of matches abandoned due to rain. The tournament aims to give more game time and competition for South Africa's best women players, with players organised into teams and playing matches at the same ground over a weekend. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). The England women's cricket team represents England and Wales in international women's cricket. Since 1998, they have been governed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), having been previously governed by the Women's Cricket Association. England is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council, with Test, One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) status. The South Africa women's cricket team toured England to play against the England women's cricket team in June and July 2022. Originally, South Africa were scheduled to tour England in September 2020.
