Andrew Yogan
Andrew Yogan (born December 4, 1991) is an American professional ice hockey player currently playing for Graz 99ers of the ICE Hockey League. He was selected by the New York Rangers in the 4th round (100th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He was the first hockey player raised in Florida to be drafted by the NHL. Prior NHL players who were born in Florida, but raised elsewhere include Val James, Dallas Eakins, Dan Hinote, and Blake Geoffrion. Playing career Yogan played major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League. He was originally drafted by the Windsor Spitfires in 2007 in the 5th round of the OHL draft. He had been ranked 19th in the draft but fell because teams were concerned he was not interested in joining the OHL. He joined the Erie Otters in 2008. San Antonio Rampage
The San Antonio Rampage were a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League based in San Antonio, Texas. The Rampage was primarily owned by Spurs Sports & Entertainment throughout the team's existence. In 2020, the franchise was sold to the Vegas Golden Knights and relocated as the Henderson Silver Knights. History In 2000, construction began on the SBC Center, located next to the Freeman Coliseum, home of the Central Hockey League's San Antonio Iguanas. 2010 NHL Entry Draft
The 2010 NHL Entry Draft was the 48th NHL Entry Draft, held on June 25–26, 2010 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, home arena of the Los Angeles Kings. This was the first time Los Angeles hosted the NHL Entry Draft. Concussion
A concussion, also known as a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), is a head injury that temporarily affects brain functioning. Symptoms may include loss of consciousness (LOC); memory loss; headaches; difficulty with thinking, concentration, or balance; nausea; blurred vision; sleep disturbances; and mood changes. Any of these symptoms may begin immediately, or appear days after the injury. Concussion should be suspected if a person indirectly or directly hits their head and experiences any of the symptoms of concussion. Erie Otters
The Erie Otters are a Major junior ice hockey team based in Erie, Pennsylvania. They are members of the Midwest division of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), one of only three American teams in the circuit. The team name refers to the North American river otter common to Lake Erie. History The Erie Otters were previously located in Niagara Falls, Ontario, where they were called the Niagara Falls Thunder. Blake Geoffrion
Blake Daniel Geoffrion (born February 3, 1988) is an American former professional ice hockey player. He last played with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League. He was a second round selection of the Nashville Predators, 56th overall, at the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut on February 26, 2011. In doing so, he became the first fourth-generation player in the league's history, after his father Dan, grandfather Bernie and great-grandfather Howie Morenz. This is not a direct 4-generation link as Bernie Geoffrion married Howie Morenz's daughter. Dan Hinote
Daniel Chester Hinote (born January 30, 1977) is an American former professional ice hockey player and current assistant coach for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League. He finished his playing career playing for Modo Hockey of the Swedish Elitserien. Though born in Florida, he was raised in Rogers, a small town near Elk River, Minnesota, where he attended Elk River High School. Playing career Hinote accepted an appointment to the United States Military Academy in 1995, and initially planned on a career with the FBI. Dallas Eakins
Dallas Franklin Eakins (''né'' Yoder; February 27, 1967) is an American professional ice hockey coach and former player. He is the head coach of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He previously served as the head coach of the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL. Early years Eakins' mother, Carol Ploof, was a native of Macon, Georgia. His birth father was a Native American, Ted Yoder, who Eakins believes was Cherokee. Both parents split up shortly after his birth. Val James
Valmore Curtis James (born February 14, 1957) is an American-born former ice hockey player who played 11 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs between 1981 and 1986. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1978 to 1988, was spent in various minor leagues. James was the first African American to play in the NHL. Early life James was born in Ocala, Florida and raised in Hauppauge, New York. He was one of six children.
