Andrew Roberts (Northamptonshire Cricketer)
Andrew Richard Roberts (born 16 April 1971) is a former English cricketer. Roberts was a right-handed batsman who bowled leg break. He was born in Kettering, Northamptonshire and is the brother of cricketer Timothy Roberts. Northamptonshire Roberts made his first-class debut for Northamptonshire against Glamorgan in the 1989 County Championship. The following season he made three Youth Test appearances for England Young Cricketers against Pakistan Young Cricketers. These were to be his only international honours. Roberts' first-class career with Northamptonshire continued until the 1996 season, when he made his final first-class appearance against Worcestershire in the 1996 County Championship. He made 59 first-class appearances for Northamptonshire, scoring 1,119 runs at an average of 18.04, with a high score of 62. Kettering
Kettering is a market and industrial town in North Northamptonshire, England. It is located north of London and north-east of Northampton, west of the River Ise, a tributary of the River Nene. 1996 English Cricket Season
The 1996 English cricket season was the 97th in which the County Championship had been an official competition. England hosted tours by India and Pakistan, who each played three Tests and three ODIs. Against India, England were unbeaten, winning the Test series 1–0 and the ODI series 2–0. However, against the Pakistanis England lost 2–0 in the Tests, and had to console themselves with a 2–1 ODI series victory. In Hampshire's game against the Indians just before the third Test, Hampshire's Kevan James took four wickets in consecutive balls and then scored a century. This was the first time this particular "double" had ever been achieved in a first-class match. Auckland Cricket Team
The Auckland cricket team represent the Auckland region and are one of six New Zealand domestic first class cricket teams. Governed by the Auckland Cricket Association they are the most successful side having won 28 Plunket Shield titles, ten wins in The Ford Trophy and the Super Smash four times. Bowling Average
In cricket, a player's bowling average is the number of runs they have conceded per wicket taken. The lower the bowling average is, the better the bowler is performing. It is one of a number of statistics used to compare bowlers, commonly used alongside the economy rate and the strike rate to judge the overall performance of a bowler. When a bowler has taken only a small number of wickets, their bowling average can be artificially high or low, and unstable, with further wickets taken or runs conceded resulting in large changes to their bowling average.
