Andreas Barkoulis
Andreas Barkoulis ( el, Ανδρέας Μπάρκουλης; 4 August 1936 – 23 August 2016) was a Greek actor. He was among the most popular male actors of the 1950s and 1960s in Greece. He was considered such a heartthrob that a popular expression of the era was created for him: "Eh koritsia, o Barkoulis!" (Hey girls, it's Barkoulis!). He died on 23 August 2016 at the age of 80. Aliki Vougiouklaki
Aliki Stamatina Vougiouklaki (Greek: Αλίκη Σταματίνα Βουγιουκλάκη Greek pronunciation: ˈlici stamaˈtina vuʝuˈklaci 20 July 1934 – 23 July 1996) was a Greek cinema and theater actress, singer and theatrical producer. She is one of the most popular actresses in Greece, and was given the title of the National Star of Greece. Theatrically, she mostly starred in renditions of widely known Broadway musicals as well as multiple Greek tragedy plays. Vougiouklaki died in 1996 at the age of 62, just three months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Aliki Vougiouklaki made her stage debut in a 1953 Athens production of Molière's ''Le Malade imaginaire''. Around the same time, she made her movie debut in ''The Little Mouse'' (1954). Çakırcalı Mehmet Efe
Çakırcalı Mehmet Efe (1872–1911) was a Zeybek, who was active as an outlaw in the region enclosing İzmir, Aydın, Denizli, Muğla and Antalya in modern western Turkey, from 1893 to 1910. Born in Ödemiş in 1871, he went out to the Aegean mountains at the age of 22 seeking revenge for his father, Çakırcalı Koca Ahmet Efe, who was murdered by an Ottoman sergeant. While the political standing of Çakırcalı is controversial, he is generally recognized as a legendary efe, who was protective of common people, fought against authority, and established justice in regions of his control. He also called by the Ottoman Empire "kirserdar" in other words commander-in-chief (of an army) a military rank in Ottoman Empire. But he decided to be in charge on his own. Georgios Drosinis ( el, Γεώργιος Δροσίνης; 9 December 1859 – 3 January 1951) was a Greece, Greek author and poet of the New Athenian School (Greek literature, Greek literary Generation of the 1880s), a scholar and an editor. Biography Georgios Drossinis was born and raised in Athens, but he came from a family from Mesolonghi which had fought in the celebrated Third Siege of Missolonghi, year-long siege of the city by the Ottomans during the Greek War of Independence. He studied Philology in Athens and in Germany, but did not complete his studies. Drossinis was one of the co-founders (along with Kostis Palamas and Nikos Kampas) of the ‘1880s Generation’, which renewed modern Greek literature by reacting to already decayed romanticism. He contributed to the development and establishment of modern Greek language (Demotic Greek, "Demotic") and to the turn towards Greek folk tradition.
