Andrea Keller
Andrea Keller (born 1973) is an Australian pianist and composer. She won three ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album with ''Thirteen Sketches'', ''Mikrokosmos'' and ''Footprints'' and was nominated in 2013 for the album ''Family Portraits''. Biography Born to Czech parents in 1973, Keller grew up in Sydney, Australia. Convinced from a young age that she would be a musician, she studied piano, flute and saxophone at Sydney's Conservatorium High School. Inspired by her older brother, she penned her first compositions at the age of 10, and received her Associate in Music diploma with distinction on piano at age 14. It was around this time that she was introduced to jazz music and the art of improvisation. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Jazz has roots in European harmony and African rhythmic rituals. The 19th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAS) were held on 23 October 2005 at the Sydney Superdome at the Sydney Olympic Park complex, thus continuing the previous year's innovation of televising the awards on Sunday evening. Miroslav Bukovsky
Miroslav Bukovsky (born Czechoslovakia) is one of Australia's leading jazz trumpeters and composer/arrangers. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1994 Bukovsky won the ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album with the album ''Wanderlust'' with the band Wanderlust. Miroslav has been on staff at the ANU School of Music since 1999. He is a former student American trumpeter Bill Adam. Biography Born in Czechoslovakia, Bukovsky grew up listening to jazz on illegal 'Voice of America' late-night broadcasts. Originally classically trained, he joined various big bands while still living in Czechoslovakia. Genevieve Lacey (born 1972) is an Australian musician and recorder virtuoso, working as a performer, creator, curator and cultural leader. The practice of listening is central to her works, which are created collaboratively with artists from around the world. Lacey plays handmade recorders made by Joanne Saunders and Fred Morgan. Allan Browne
Allan Vincent Browne (28 July 1944 – 13 June 2015) was an Australian jazz drummer and composer first known for his work in The Red Onion Jazz Band in the 1960s. Browne won the ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album in ARIA Music Awards of 1990 and ARIA Music Awards of 1996 with Paul Grabowsky Trio. Browne was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2013 for service to music as a jazz musician, and to the community.
