Andrea Barbiani (1708–1779) was an Italian painter of the 18th century, mainly active in Ravenna and Rimini. He painted in the style of Cesare Pronti. He was the nephew of the painter Giovanni Battista Barbiani. Ravenna
Ravenna ( , , also ; rgn, Ravèna) is the capital city of the Province of Ravenna, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. It was the capital city of the Western Roman Empire from 408 until its collapse in 476. Cesare Pronti
Cesare Pronti (November 30, 1626 – October 22, 1708) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly near Ravenna. Biography He was born at Cattolica, near Rimini, and was brought up at Bologna, training in that city under Guercino. He then helped complete the quadrature for the Villa Albizzi in Bologna, working with Carlo Cignani. He then moved to Ravenna, where Pronti helped decorate with a mix of quadratura and allegorical figures representing four Continents in the Rasponi family's palace, Palazzo di San Giacomo, near Russi. He also helped decorate, with oculi with flying putti, the former church of San Romualdo, now a museum in Classe (in the Biblioteca Classense), and formerly a Camaldolese Abbey. Giovanni Battista Barbiani
Giovanni Battista Barbiani (1593–1650) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active in Ravenna. Among his works are altarpieces of ''St. Andrew'' and ''St. Joseph'' for the Franciscan church. For the dome of the chapel of the ''Madonna del Sudore'' in the Cathedral of Ravenna, he painted a fresco of the ''Assumption of the Virgin''. He painted a ' St. Peter' in Sant' Agata in Ravenna. He painted in the style of Bartolomeo Cesi. Along with Cesare Pronti, he painted in the church of San Romualdo (designed by Luca Danesi, of the Camaldolese Abbey, now home to the Biblioteca Classense of Ravenna. The grand corridor in the Abbey is also frescoed by Barbiani with famous benedictine and camaldolese monks. Santa Maria del Suffragio is a Late-Baroque-style, Roman Catholic church located on Via Serafino Ferruzzi in Ravenna, region of Emilia Romagna, Italy. The church was designed by Francesco Fontana, son of Carlo Fontana, and erected between 1701 and 1728. The church was commissioned by the ''Confraternity of Beata Vergine dei Suffragi''.
