Andrea Amort
Andrea Amort (born 1958, Linz) is an Austrian dance critic, dance historian, playwright, festival and exhibition curator as well as a non-fiction writer. Life Andrea Amort studied modern dance and classical ballet with Erika Gangl and Andrei Jerschik in Linz, and Theatre Studies at the University of Vienna, where she received her doctorate in 1982 with a thesis on the story of the ballet of the Vienna State Opera from 1918 to 1942. From 1981 to 2009, she was a dance critic and sometimes also an editor and deputy director of the cultural department of Vienna's Daily Kurier. Presently she writes for international media and trade magazines. After teaching at the Anton Bruckner Private University for Music, Drama, and Dance, she moved in 2003 to the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. Shona Katrine MacTavish (née Dunlop; 12 April 1920 – 18 June 2019) was a New Zealand dancer, teacher, author, choreographer and pioneer in liturgical dance in the Asia-Pacific. She was known as "the mother of modern dance in New Zealand". Early life and dance career Shona Katrine Dunlop was born in Dunedin on 12 April 1920; her father was Francis Dunlop, a Scottish-born Presbyterian minister who lectured in moral philosophy at the University of Otago, and her brother was Bonar Dunlop who became a noted sculptor. In 1935, she and her family travelled to Europe, and she enrolled to study with expressionist dancer and choreographer Gertrud Bodenwieser at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. She studied there for two years and then joined as a principal dancer. Zäzilie Wang (1 February 1909, Vienna — 10 July 2005, Vienna), stage name Cilli Wang, was an Austrian-born Dutch dancer, performer and theatre maker. Wang initially was known as a dancer and later as a comedienne in Austria and Germany. When Austria merged into the Greater German Reich, she fled to the Netherlands and asked for asylum. After World War II she played in several Dutch cabaret groups and made solo performances into the 1970s.
