Andrarum is a locality situated in Tomelilla Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden. Christinehof Castle is located in Andrarum. Andrarum Church was built in the 12th century and heavily rebuilt in the 18th century. It contains Baroque furnishings, donated by Christina Piper, and remains of late medieval murals. Andrarum Church
Andrarum Church ( sv, Andrarums kyrka) is a church in Andrarum in the Swedish province Skåne. Built in the 12th century, it attained its present look in the 18th century. History and architecture The church in Andrarrum was built in the 12th century. Originally it consisted of a nave, chancel and an apse. During the 15th century, the earlier ceiling was replaced with vaults. A small southern transept was built in 1709, and in 1768 a large northern transept was constructed, to house the congregation which had grown because of the foundation of the nearby alum factory, an early example of industrialisation in Sweden. With the new, large transept, the altar was moved to the southern transept, while the earlier nave was more or less destroyed during the rebuilding. The tower was built in 1817, and the sacristy in 1862. The chancel still contains some late medieval murals from the second half of the 15th century. Christinehof Castle
Christinehof Castle ( sv, Christinehofs slott) is a manor house in Tomelilla Municipality, Scania, Sweden. History The first estate mentioned on the site was situated in the 14th-century, and named Sjöstrup, according to tradition owned by a German noble named Snakenborg. In 1387, the estates Kolstrup and Sjöstrup was united to the estate Andrarum, which was bought in 1725 by Christina Piper (1673–1752), widow of Carl Piper (1647–1716), head of the field chancellery under King Carl XII . The present castle was built in 1737-40 by Christina Piper and named Christinehof after her. It was built in the German Baroque style. Christina Piper, née ''Törne'' (1673 in Stockholm – 1752 in Krageholm Castle, Scania), was a Swedish countess, landowner and entrepreneur, married to the statesman and military count Carl Piper. During the tenure of her spouse in office, she played a considerable political role. Christina Piper became known in history as a landowner and builder. She is known as one of the most successful female entrepreneurs in contemporary Scandinavia, and as one of the greatest builders in the history of Scania. Tomelilla Municipality (''Tomelilla kommun'') is a municipality in Skåne County in southern Sweden. Its seat is located in the town Tomelilla. The municipality was formed through a series of amalgamations taking place in 1952, 1969 and 1971. The number of pre-1952 units making up the present municipality is twenty.
