Masamba
Masamba is a small river town and district (''kecamatan'') in the North Luwu Regency of South Sulawesi Province of Indonesia which serves as the seat of the regency. The town lies on the Patikala River. It is served by Andi Jemma Airport. Much of the land in the region is swampy coastal plains with mangroves found in its shallow waters. A population of Bugis who are known to be Muslims come from Masamba. A number of these Islamic Bugis moved out of the village into Rompo in the 1940s and into the lowlands of the region into Tabalu and Saatu in the 1950s and 1960s. Rattan trading and making is said to be important to the local economy. Coconuts are also grown near the coast in this region of Sulawesi. Aviastar Flight 7503
Aviastar Flight 7503 was a regional flight from Masamba to Makassar, Indonesia. On 2 October 2015, the de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft serving the route went missing with 10 on board near Palopo minutes after takeoff. There was no distress call from the plane. After an extensive search operation, three days later the plane was found crashed and it was confirmed that all 10 on board were dead. It was Aviastar's deadliest crash. National Transportation Safety Committee released the final report in January 2017 and concluded that the crash was caused by pilot error. They found out that both pilots agreed to deviate the plane from its designated route and decided to "take a shortcut", and thus cutting the travel time of the airplane. However, by doing so the plane have to pass the mountains on the middle of the route. This wouldn't have happened if they stayed at their designated track which was near the shoreline. Seko Airport
The Seko Airport is an airport in Seko, North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. General The runway is usable by CASA C-212 aircraft. It serves around 1,300 to 1,500 aircraft annually. Bua Airport, also known as Palopo Lagaligo Airport , is an airport in Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. It serves the city of Palopo, which is located 10 km from the airport itself. The airport has a land area of about 100 hectares.
