Anderson Greenwood
__NOTOC__ Anderson Greenwood Crosby is a US manufacturing company that produces valves for industrial processes, including pressure relief and tank protection valves. The firm was established as Anderson Greenwood in 1947 in Houston, Texas by Marvin Greenwood, Ben Anderson (Anderson Greenwood Crosby), Ben Anderson, and Lomis Slaughter Jr to produce a light aircraft, the Anderson Greenwood AG-14, AG-14. This project never made it past the prototyping stage, but involvement in a missile project soon thereafter saw the firm focus on valve design. In the 1970s, the firm owned the Bellanca name for a while, and during this time attempted to market a new light plane design as the Bellanca Aries, but was short lived with only 4 being sold. It was purchased in 1986 by Keystone International, in turn acquired by Tyco Flow Control in 1997, with Anderson Greenwood being maintained as a subsidiary. It was subsequently merged with Crosby, another Tyco acquisition. References * {{cite book , las ...

Lomis Slaughter Jr
The hairy stone crab (''Lomis hirta'') is a crab-like crustacean that lives in the littoral zone of southern Australia from Bunbury, Western Australia, to the Bass Strait. It is the only species in its family. It is wide, slow-moving, and covered in brown hair which camouflages it against the rocks upon which it lives. Some controversy exists about the relationship between ''L. hirta'' and the other anomuran families. Candidates for its closest relatives have included hermit crabs, specifically king crabs, and ''Aegla''. It is clear, however, that ''Lomis'' represents a separate case of carcinisation Carcinisation (or carcinization) is an example of convergent evolution in which a crustacean evolves into a crab-like form from a non-crab-like form. Anderson Greenwood AG-14
The Anderson Greenwood AG-14 is a two-seat utility aircraft developed in the United States shortly after World War II. It is an all-metal, shoulder-wing monoplane of pod-and-boom configuration, equipped with a pusher propeller, side-by-side seating and fixed tricycle undercarriage.Plane and Pilot: ''1978 Aircraft Directory'', page 13. Werner & Werner Corp, Santa Monica CA, 1977. Development Anderson Greenwood's sole aircraft design was actually a collaborative effort of three engineers: Ben Anderson, Marvin Greenwood & Lomis Slaughter Jr. The name of the last member of the design team was not included in the product name as it was thought it would not boost sales. The prototype first flew in October 1947, but plans to mass-produce the aircraft were interrupted by the Korean War. Eventually, only five more examples were built before Anderson Greenwood abandoned the project in favour of producing aircraft components for other manufacturers. The aircraft's design placed the wi ...

Manufacturing is the creation or production of goods with the help of equipment, labor, machines, tools, and chemical or biological processing or formulation. It is the essence of secondary sector of the economy. The term may refer to a range of human activity, from handicraft to high-tech, but it is most commonly applied to industrial design, in which raw materials from the primary sector are transformed into finished goods on a large scale. Such goods may be sold to other manufacturers for the production of other more complex products (such as aircraft, household appliances, furniture, sports equipment or automobiles), or distributed via the tertiary industry to end users and consumers (usually through wholesalers, who in turn sell to retailers, who then sell them to individual customers).
