''And Winter Came...'' is the seventh studio album by Irish singer, songwriter, and musician Enya, released on 7 November 2008 by Warner Bros. Records internationally and by Reprise Records in the United States on 11 November 2008. After recording new Christmas songs for her fourth EP '' Sounds of the Season: The Enya Collection'' (2006), Enya started work on a Christmas album of traditional carols and original tracks, but the idea was changed to a collection of songs with a Christmas or winter theme as it better suited the style of the new material. It was recorded with her longtime collaborators, arranger and producer Nicky Ryan and his wife, lyricist Roma Ryan. Enya Patricia Brennan (; ga, Eithne Pádraigín Ní Bhraonáin; born 17 May 1961), known professionally by the mononym Enya, is an Irish singer, songwriter, and musician known for modern Celtic music. Jimmy Faulkner (31 January 1950 – 4 March 2008) was one of Ireland's top guitarists, who in a four-decade career played with many of Ireland's leading rock and roll, blues, folk and jazz musicians. He was born in Dolphin's Barn, Dublin to a musical family. He started playing music in the 1960s with fellow Irish guitarist Dan Coffey, when he formed the Jangle Dangle band. He later played in Freak Show with Pete Cummins and vocalist Ditch Cassidy. In popular usage, an heirloom is something that has been passed down for generations through family members. Examples are a Family Bible, antiques, weapons or jewellery. "Amarantine" is a single by Irish musician Enya, taken from the album of the same name. The word is taken from ancient Greek and means ''everlasting'' or ''immortal'' (the same as the amaranth flower). The single was released in the United Kingdom on 5 December 2005. Several versions of "Amarantine" were released, some containing all three tracks, and some omitting the "Spaghetti Western" track. In some areas, Reprise released both a "Part I" single containing "Amarantine" and "The Comb of the Winds" and a "Part II" single that contained all three tracks. The "Spaghetti Western Theme" is an atypical Enya recording arranged in the style of Ennio Morricone's work on films such as ''A Fistful of Dollars'' and ''The Good, the Bad and the Ugly''.
