''And the Horse You Rode in On'' is the seventh solo studio album by Australian singer/songwriter James Reyne released on 14 March 2005. It's an acoustic recording of songs taken from his earlier solo work and Australian Crawl songs. It includes two new tracks. Later digital editions renamed this album as ''Greatest Hits Acoustic''. Review Tomas Mureika of AllMusic said "The songs are produced in such a way as to spotlight eyne'sinimitable voice. Most of the songs are done strictly acoustically, with just Reyne and a guitar, although some are given different arrangements ("One More River" has been given an almost reggae beat, while "Any Day Above Ground" has an ironically funereal dirge about it). There are a couple of new tracks, "The Euphonious Whale" and "How to Make Gravy". This fascinating reimagining of a fantastic catalog of songs nicely reconnects with an artist who had entered the new century with the aggressiveness of '' Speedboats for Breakfast''. James Reyne
James Michael Nugent Reyne OAM (born 19 May 1957) is an Australian rock musician and singer-songwriter both in solo work and, until 1986, with the band Australian Crawl. Biography Early years Reyne was born in Lagos, Nigeria. His father, Rodney Michael Reyne, was an English-born former Royal Marine, who served as aide-de-camp to the Governor of the state of Victoria, Sir Dallas Brooks, and subsequently worked for British Petroleum. His paternal grandfather, Cecil Nugent Reyne, was an English rear admiral. His mother, Judith Graham, née Leask, was a teacher. His younger brother, David Reyne, was also born in Nigeria. The family moved to Victoria in late 1959, where a younger sister Elisabeth was born. Reyne lived in Mount Eliza, Victoria, was educated at The Peninsula School and studied drama at the Victorian College of Arts. "Reckless" (aka "Reckless (Don't Be So)", "Reckless (Don't You Be So)", "She Don't Like That") is a 1983 song from the EP ''Semantics'' by Australian band Australian Crawl. The song showed a change in the line up of the band as drummer Bill McDonough was temporarily replaced by Graham Bidstrup (also on keyboards). After the EP was released, Bidstrup was replaced by John Watson (drums). The EP ''Semantics'' charted on the Australian Singles Charts to reach #1 and consequently some sources list "Reckless" as a #1 single. Marc Hunter
Marc Alexander Hunter (7 September 195317 July 1998) was a New Zealand rock and pop singer, songwriter and record producer. He was the lead vocalist of Dragon (1973–11/1979, 8/1982–1989, 1995–11/1997), a band formed by his older brother, Todd Hunter, in Auckland in January 1972. They relocated to Sydney in May 1975. He was also a member of the Party Boys in 1985. "Downhearted" is the third single released by Australian surf rock band Australian Crawl from their debut album ''The Boys Light Up''. The song was written by Sean Higgins, Guy McDonough and Bill McDonough. All three songwriters had been bandmates in the Flatheads, but at the time only Bill McDonough was a member of Australian Crawl. It was produced by David Briggs. "Downhearted" was released in June 1980 and reached number 12 on the Australian Singles Chart in July 1980.
