Downhearted
"Downhearted" is the third single released by Australian surf rock band Australian Crawl from their debut album ''The Boys Light Up''. The song was written by Sean Higgins, Guy McDonough and Bill McDonough. All three songwriters had been bandmates in the Flatheads, but at the time only Bill McDonough was a member of Australian Crawl. It was produced by David Briggs. "Downhearted" was released in June 1980 and reached number 12 on the Australian Singles Chart in July 1980. NOTE: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1970 until ARIA created their own charts in mid-1988. Different B-sides were released in different markets. Australian B-side was "Way I've Been" written by Australian Crawl member Brad Robinson and his father James Robinson. James Robinson was a Federal Arbitration Court Justice. Australian Crawl
Australian Crawl (often called Aussie Crawl or The Crawl by fans) were an Australian rock band founded by James Reyne (lead vocals/piano/harmonica), Brad Robinson (rhythm guitar), Paul Williams (bass), Simon Binks (lead guitar) and David Reyne (drums) in Melbourne in 1978. David Reyne soon left and was replaced by Bill McDonough (drums, percussion). They were later joined by his brother Guy McDonough (vocals, rhythm guitar). The band was named after the front crawl swimming style also known as the Australian crawl. Australian Crawl were associated with surf music and sponsored a surfing competition in 1984. However, they also handled broader social issues such as shallow materialism, alcoholism, car accidents, and cautionary tales of romance. Brad Robinson (Australian Musician)
Bradford Leigh "Brad" Robinson (28 January 1958–13 October 1996) was an Australian rock musician best known as lead and rhythm guitarist with the 1980s band Australian Crawl. He had a later career as a manager for musicians and sports personalities. In 1993 Robinson was diagnosed with lymphoma and, in October 1996 when Australian Crawl were inducted into the Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame, he was hospitalised with the disease and unable to attend. Guy Gillis McDonough (17 October 1955 – 26 June 1984) was an Australian rock musician best known for rhythm guitar and singer-songwriter with the iconic band Australian Crawl. He provided rhythm guitar and lead vocals on two of their well-known songs, " Oh No Not You Again" and " Errol". The song was written by lead singer James Reyne Australian Crawl's producer David Briggs was the Little River Band's guitarist, and had helped them to a recording contract with EMI. "The Boys Light Up" peaked at #22 on the Australian Singles Chart. The song contains the neologism "dorseted", to rhyme with "corseted". "Things Don't Seem" is the first single by Australian surf rock band Australian Crawl from their 1981 album ''Sirocco''. It was produced by Peter Dawkins The song features one of the band's most complex pieces of lead guitar work, thanks to the skills of guitarist Simon Binks. "Things Don't Seem" was released in May 1981 and reached #11 on the Australian Singles Charts. Guy McDonough re-recorded the song for his solo album, ''My Place'', which was released posthumously in 1985, by his brother, Bill McDonough. It was also included as the 'B' side to the first single, "My Place", taken from the album. The original Australian Crawl version featured James Reyne on vocals. ''Runaway'' is the sixth and last studio album by the Dutch rock group Solution. It was released in 1982 on CBS Records. History ''Runaway'' has eight songs in a shorter, more direct format than previous recordings. Earlier songs like "Empty Faces" (1977) and "It's Only Just Begun" (1980) had hinted at a more commercial approach, and ''Runaway'' continued this trend to the extreme. Unlike their previous five albums, it did not include any instrumental tracks. Jim Capaldi of Traffic co-produced the album with the band. Capaldi also wrote or co-wrote the lyrics to seven of the eight songs. He covered two of the songs, "Runaway" and "Bad Breaks", on his next solo album, '' Fierce Heart''. Solution (band)
Solution were a Dutch progressive rock band that existed from 1970 to 1983, during which time they released six studio albums and one live album. They incorporated jazz, rock, pop and soul influences, becoming more commercial on their fifth and sixth albums. History Their first eponymous LP comprised mainly instrumental pieces, complex yet repetitive in structure, with bassist Peter van der Sande singing on one track. He was succeeded by Guus Willemse around the time of its release, and immediately the band began recording more vocal songs; three of the tracks on second album ''Divergence'' featured lyrics.
