Anatoly Kuzmin is a former international speedway rider from the Soviet Union. Speedway career Kuzmin reached the final of the Speedway World Championship in the 1972 Individual Speedway World Championship. Speedway World Championship
The World Championship of Speedway is an international competition between the highest-ranked motorcycle speedway riders of the world, run under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). The first official championships were held in 1936. Today, this official FIM championship is organised as a series of Speedway Grand Prix events, where points are awarded according to performance in the event and tallied up at the end of each season. However, up to 1994, it was run as a single-night event after qualifying rounds during the season, leading up to a big final of 20 heats, where points were awarded according to riders' heat placings and then tallied up at the end. Before the World Championship received its formal recognition from the ACU and the FIM in 1936, other unofficial Speedway World Championships were staged between 1931 and 1935, in Europe, South America and Australasia. Viktor Trofimov
Viktor Ivanovich Trofimov (russian: Виктор Иванович Трофимов) (22 March 1938 – 1 October 2013) is a former Soviet international speedway rider who reached the final of the Speedway World Championship in 1972 and 1975. He also finished on the rostrum of the World Team Cup nine times between 1965 and 1976 but never won a gold medal. He achieved four silver (1966, 1971, 1972, 1975) and three bronze (1967, 1969, 1973) medals. In the speedway team championship of the USSR he rode for 18 years for the team, "Raduga" (Rovno) and won two bronze medals. First race - April 30, 1960; retirement - October 15, 1995. He was born in Leningrad, Russian SFSR. In September 2011, a book was published about the sports career of Viktor Trofimov titled ''English "RADUGA" Viktor Trofimov''. Mikhail Krasnov (died November 1979) was an international speedway rider from the Soviet Union. Speedway career Krasnov was a leading Soviet Union international during the early 1970s reaching the final of the Speedway World Championship in the 1974 Individual Speedway World Championship. Valery Gordeev (born 28 August 1952 in Balakovo, Soviet Union) is a former Soviet international speedway rider who reached the finals of the Speedway World Championship five times. His older brother Vladimir Gordeev is also a former rider who qualified for the World Final on three occasions and was sensationally disqualified in 1971 for using illegal fuel additives. The 1974 Speedway World Team Cup was the 15th edition of the FIM Speedway World Team Cup to determine the team world champions. The final took place at Stadion Śląski, Chorzów in Poland. The title was won by England for the fourth consecutive year and fifth time in total. Grigory Khlinovsky is a former international speedway rider from the Soviet Union. Speedway career Khlinovsky reached the final of the Speedway World Championship on three consecutive years, in the 1972 Individual Speedway World Championship, 1973 Individual Speedway World Championship and the 1974 Individual Speedway World Championship. He was one of six Russians that competed in the 1972 World final after strong performances in the Continental final and European final. He was the senior coach of "Signal" team (Rivne) (1982-1989).
