1974 Speedway World Team Cup
The 1974 Speedway World Team Cup was the 15th edition of the FIM Speedway World Team Cup to determine the team world champions. The final took place at Stadion Śląski, Chorzów in Poland. The title was won by England for the fourth consecutive year and fifth time in total. However they previously rode as Great Britain when they had the benefit of using Commonwealth riders The fifth win took them ahead of Poland (on four titles) and one behind Sweden (on six titles). Fédération Internationale De Motocyclisme
The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM; en, International Motorcycling Federation) is the global governing/sanctioning body of motorcycle racing. It represents 116 national motorcycle federations that are divided into six regional continental unions. There are seven motorcycle-racing disciplines that FIM covers, encompassing 82 world championships as well as hundreds of secondary championships: enduro, trial, circuit racing, motocross and supermoto, cross-country, e-bike, and track racing. FIM is also involved in many non-racing activities that promote the sport, its safety, and support relevant public policy. The FIM is also the first international sporting federation to publish an Environmental Code, in 1994. Graeme Stapleton
Graeme James Stapleton (born 1 February 1946) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from New Zealand. Speedway career Stapleton competed in motocross in New Zealand in the 1960s and from mid 1967 to 1969 he lived in England and rode in motocross events in the UK and Europe. After returning to New Zealand he won the New Zealand 250cc motocross championship. In November 1970, he began riding speedway at the Templeton track in Christchurch. The following year, he went to England and rode for the Canterbury Crusaders in the British League Division Two. He also made six appearances for the Wimbledon Dons in 1971 and was a member of the team for the next three years. In 1975 and 1976, he did not ride in the British League because he was in New Zealand helping his business partner Ronnie Moore after he had a serious accident. Bengt Gustaf Jansson (born 9 January 1943 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a former Swedish international speedway rider. "Banger" was runner up in the 1967 World Final to fellow countryman Ove Fundin after losing a race-off and finished third in 1971, again after a run-off. He rode in Britain for West Ham Hammers, Edinburgh Monarchs, Hackney Hawks, Reading Racers, and finally the Birmingham Brummies. Anders Michanek (born 30 May 1943 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Speedway rider. In 1974 he won the Speedway World Championship in his Swedish homeland with a maximum score of 15 points. Career Michanek had a very successful career riding in the British League. He initially signed for the Long Eaton Archers in 1967 before going on to ride for various clubs including Leicester Lions, Newcastle Diamonds, Reading Racers, Ipswich Witches and Cradley Heathens. Skien () is a city and municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county in Norway.
