Anatolie Ostap
Anatolie Ostap (born 22 November 1979) is a Moldovan former footballer whose last club was Banga Gargždai in Lithuania. Ostap also played for Žalgiris Vilnius and Vetra in Lithuania, Gabala in Azerbaijan, Mash’al Mubarek in Uzbekistan, Tobol in Kazakhstan and Nistru Otaci, Tiligul-Tiras Tiraspol and Agro-Goliador Chişinău in his native Moldova. Career Gabala In January 2009 Ostap signed for Azerbaijan Premier League side Gabala. In the summer of 2010 Ostap left Gabala after playing 31 league games for the club and scoring 1 goal. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. The 2011 A Lyga was the 22nd season of the A Lyga, the top-tier football league of Lithuania. The season began on 12 March 2011 and ended on 6 November 2011. Ekranas were the defending champions, having won their third consecutive title at the end of the 2010 season. Teams The league will see a change in the number of teams once again as twelve teams were granted a licence for 2011, one more than in the 2010 season. 2009–10 Azerbaijan Premier League
The 2009–10 Azerbaijan Premier League was the eighteenth season of top-tier football in Azerbaijan. It began on 14 August 2009 and finished in May 2010. FK Baku were the defending champions. The league was competed in two stages. The first stage consisted of a regular home-and-away round-robin schedule for a total of 22 matches per team. The competition then split into two halves. However, each team took over to the respective group only records earned against the remaining 5 teams in their second round group. The teams ranked first through sixth played out the championship and the European spots while the bottom six teams had to avoid one of the two relegation places. The 2008–09 Azerbaijan Premier League is the 17th season of Azerbaijan Premier League, the Azerbaijani professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. Inter Baku were the defending champions, having won the previous season. Teams FK Gänclärbirliyi Sumqayit and ABN Bärdä were relegated after finishing the previous season in 13th and 14th place, respectively. They were replaced by the champions of the two groups in the Azerbaijan First Division, Bakılı Baku and MOIK Baku. On 8 July 2008, FK Masallı withdrew their participation from the league, citing competitional and financial problems as reasons. The Azerbaijan Cup is a major association football competition in Azerbaijan. In its original form, it started in 1936, when Azerbaijan was a republic of the Soviet Union and it was not disputed by Azerbaijani teams in the Soviet league pyramid. Compared to cups in many other countries, Azerbaijan attracts considerably less public interest and even the cup final is rarely sold out. Consequently, the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan has experimented with the format in order to raise the profile of the cup. FK Vėtra
FK Vėtra was a Lithuanian football team from the capital city of Vilnius. History The club was founded in 1997 and was initially based in Rūdiškės, a settlement in Trakai district, and moved in 2003 to Vilnius city with the purchase of its own stadium. In 2004, Vėtra played in the Intertoto Cup and reached the 3rd round with 3 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss, including the elimination of Scottish side Hibernian FC. Their results in the 2005 tournament were not as successful, being eliminated in the early stages by losing both first round matches to future finalists CFR Cluj. In 2006, Vėtra played Shelbourne F.C. of Dublin in the UEFA Intertoto Cup, but lost 0–1 at home, and 0–4 in Ireland. In the 2007 Intertoto Cup, Vėtra's second-round game with Legia Warsaw was called off when Legia fans rioted. The Lithuanian A Lyga 2008 was the 19th season of top-tier football in Lithuania. The season started on 29 March 2008 and ended on 16 November 2008. The league had to reduce the number of its teams from ten to nine prior to this season due to lacking of team able to earn promotion (see below).
