Anastasia Andreevna Popova (russian: Анастасия Андреевна Попова; November 24, 1987, Moscow) is a Russian journalist who works for Russia-24. She directed a documentary ''The Syrian Diary'' about the war in Syria. She was one of the eight flag bearers of the Olympic flag at the opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics , ''Zharkie. Russia-24 (russian: Россия-24) is a state-owned Russian-language news channel from Russia. It covers major national and international events as well as focuses on domestic issues. It is owned by VGTRK. History The broadcast began January 1, 2007 in Russia, February 7 on the West Coast of the United States, May 19, 2008 in Serbia, and October 9, 2008 in Kyrgyzstan. VGTRK Crimea started broadcasting on March 10, 2014. The editor-in-chief of the channel is Evgeny Bekasov (since 2012). The channel ostensibly aims to give a broad and impartial outline of life in all of Russia’s regions from its European exclave of Kaliningrad to Vladivostok in the Far East. The channel was named ''Vesti'' until 1 January 2010, when the public-owned VGTRK rebranded its channels. 2014 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics took place at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi, Russia, on 7 February 2014. It began at 20:14 MSK (UTC+4) and finished at 23:02 MSK (UTC+4). It was filmed and produced by OBS and Russian host broadcaster VGTRK. This was the first Winter Olympics and first Olympic Games opening ceremony under the IOC presidency of Thomas Bach. This was also the second consecutive Winter Olympic opening ceremony to be held in an indoor stadium. The Games were officially opened by President Vladimir Putin. An audience of 40,000 were in attendance at the stadium with an estimated 2,000 performers. Preparations The site of the opening ceremony, Fisht Olympic Stadium was built specifically for the games.
