Khardung La
Khardung La () or Khardung Pass is a mountain pass in the Leh district of the Indian union territory of Ladakh. The pass is on the Ladakh Range, north of Leh, and connects the Indus river valley and the Shyok river valley. It also forms the gateway to the Nubra valley, beyond which lies the Siachen Glacier. A motorable road through the pass was built in 1976, and opened to public motor vehicles in 1988. Maintained by the Border Roads Organisation, the pass is strategically important to India as it is used to carry supplies to the Siachen Glacier. The TVS Scooty is a brand of Scooters made by TVS Motors of India. It is marketed mainly to women, and in 2009 was the largest selling brand among scooters aimed specifically at women buyers, selling about 25,000 units per month, compared to about 60,000 per month for the overall top selling scooter in India. History Scooty was initially conceived of as a Scooter for both sexes. However sales figures over the first two years indicated that more women were buying the Scooty than men. In 1996, Scooty went through a repositioning exercise to target women. Himalayan Highs
Himalayan Highs, an initiative launched by TVS Motor Company, which was an enabler for women riders to take up a long road trips on a Scooty Zest 110. The initiative gained fame in 2015 after India's Youngest Women stunt rider Anam Hashim became the first woman on a 110 cc scooter to complete the trip to Khardung La, a mountain pass in the Himalayas on a TVS ScootyZest 110. This pass is considered the world's highest motorable stretch and Anam's feat has been included in the India Book of Records. For the Season 2 of Himalyan Highs, 10 women were shortlisted after a selection process that included 2000 entries from across India. Each woman was given a TVS Scooty Zest 110 with a choice of colour, while Anam Hashim led the team riding the Himalayan Highs Special Edition of the scooter.
