Amy Webster
Amy Webster (born March 3, 1969) is a former American ice dancer. Webster began her skating career in Yarmouth, Maine. With partner Ron Kravette, she won the bronze medal at the United States Figure Skating Championships in 1994 and 1995, and finished fourth in 1993 and 1997. Webster and Kravette won the gold medal at the 1993 United States Olympic Festival in San Antonio, and were the alternate pair for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Ice Dancer
Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976. According to the International Skating Union (ISU), the governing body of figure skating, an ice dance team consists of one woman and one man. Ice dance, like pair skating, has its roots in the "combined skating" developed in the 19th century by skating clubs and organizations and in recreational social skating. Couples and friends would skate waltzes, marches, and other social dances. The first steps in ice dance were similar to those used in ballroom dancing. The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating which has been held since 1938. Skaters compete in five levels: Senior, Junior, Novice, Intermediate, and Juvenile. Medals are awarded in four disciplines: Ladies singles, Men's singles, Pairs, and Ice dance. The Skate Canada International is an international, senior-level invitation-only figure skating competition organized by Skate Canada. It is the second competition of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating season. The location changes yearly. Medals are awarded in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The first Skate Canada International was held in 1973. Champions On Ice
Champions on Ice was a touring ice show in the United States. The show featured a large cast of both professional and Olympic-eligible figure skaters along with novelty acts such as skating acrobats. The shows were focused primarily on solo performances by the skaters rather than ensemble work or acting out stories. The tour was originally run by Tom Collins Enterprises. Collins first organized the tour following the 1969 World Figure Skating Championships. It was initially known as the "Tour of World Figure Skating Champions", and featured top amateur skaters who performed under an arrangement with the International Skating Union (ISU). When the ISU liberalized its amateur status rules in 1990, Collins began to add professional skaters to the tour, as well as active eligible competitors. Yarmouth, Maine
Yarmouth is a town in Cumberland County, Maine, United States, twelve miles north of the state's largest city, Portland. When originally settled in 1636, as North Yarmouth, it was part of Massachusetts, and remained as such for 213 years.
