Amsheet
Amsheet (, '; also spelled Amchit) is a seaside town and municipality in the Byblos District of Keserwan-Jbeil Governorate, Lebanon, about 40 km north of Beirut. The town's average elevation is 140 meters above sea level and its total land area is 595 hectares. Its inhabitants are predominantly Maronites, although there is a Shia Muslim minority. There are many old churches in Amsheet (more than a hundred and some old synagogues.) Amsheet is found in Phoenician papyrus and parchment, where it is repeatedly referred to as the "promised land" or capital of the known world. 'Afifa Karam
Afifa Karam ( ar, عفيفة كرم, ; July 22, 1883 – July 28, 1924) was a Lebanese-American journalist, novelist, and translator. A writer for the New York City-based Arabic-language daily newspaper ''Al-Hoda'', Karam authored three original Arabic novels as well as a number of Arabic translations of novels from English and French. She was an advocate for women's rights in the Mahjar, or Arab diaspora, and of Arab Feminism. Early life Afifa Karam was born in Amsheet, then in the Mount Lebanon Mutasarrifate, into the wealthy Maronite family of a doctor in the Ottoman army. Karam was educated in local missionary schools until the age of thirteen, when she was married to a relative, John Karam. Lycee Amchit is a private school that provides kindergarten, primary, complementary and secondary teaching. The main campus is located in the town of Amsheet, Lebanon. Elsa Zgheib ( ar, إلسا زغيب) is a Lebanese actress, born on February 1, 1981, in Amsheet, Lebanon. Salwa Al Katrib
Salwa Al Katrib (also spelled ''Salwa Al Qatrib'', ar, سلوى القطريب; 17 September 1953 – 4 March 2009) was a Lebanese singer and stage actress best known for her roles in ''Emerald Princess'' (''Al Amira Zmurrod'') and ''Mountain Girl'' (''Bent Al Jabal''). She was the wife of Nahi Lahoud and the mother of aspiring Lebanese actress and singer Aline Lahoud. Michel Suleiman
Michel Suleiman ( ar, ميشال سليمان ; born 21 November 1948) is a Lebanese Maronite Christian politician who served as President of Lebanon from 2008 to 2014. Before becoming president, he served as commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces from 1998 to 2008. Byblos District
Byblos District ( ar, قضاء جبيل; transliteration: ''Qadaa' Jbeil''), also called the Jbeil District (''Jbeil'' is Lebanese Arabic for "Byblos"; standard Arabic ''Jubail''), is a district (''qadaa'') of the Keserwan-Jbeil Governorate of Lebanon. Sabah Khoury (born November 10, 1982) is a former Lebanese basketball player who plays as a shooting guard for Sagesse Club in the Lebanese Basketball League (LBL). He formerly played for Champville Club, Amchit Club and Al Mouttahed Tripoli in the Lebanese Basketball League, and Qingdao Doublestar in the Chinese Basketball League.
