Amr Salama
Amr Salama ( ar, عمرو سلامة; born 22 November 1982) is an Egyptian film director, blogger, screenwriter, and author. Film career Born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, he later moved with his family back to Egypt. He began his directing career primarily with short movies and commercials, after which he shifted to full-length movies. Amr Salama's released his first feature movie, ''Zay El Naharda'' (''On a Day Like Today'') in 2008. In 2009, Salama submitted the script for a second movie, '' Excuse My French'', based on, by his own admission, his experiences at a public middle school in Egypt after his return from Saudi Arabia. ''Excuse My French'' tells the story of Hany Abdulla Sousa, a student at a private international school who comes from a Coptic family. The Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) is an annual film festival in Fribourg, Switzerland. It is focused on selected films from Asia, Africa and Latin America. The Grand Prize is the main award of the Fribourg International Film Festival. 2011 Egyptian Revolution
The 2011 Egyptian revolution, also known as the 25 January revolution ( ar, ثورة ٢٥ يناير; ), began on 25 January 2011 and spread across Egypt. The date was set by various youth groups to coincide with the annual Egyptian "Police holiday" as a statement against increasing police brutality during the last few years of Hosni Mubarak's presidency. It consisted of demonstrations, marches, occupations of plazas, non-violent civil resistance, acts of civil disobedience and strike action, strikes. ''Zay El Naharda'' (Arabic: , ''On a Day Like Today'') is a 2008 Egyptian thriller film, it was the debut of its writer and director Amr Salama. Plot Mai falls in love with Ayman, who passes away chasing her brother Mohammad, a drug addict, who stole her bag. The story repeats itself with the same exact dates a year later with her new boyfriend Yaser. Mai asks for her friend's help, Riham who works as a psychiatrist as she detects Ayman's diaries with the help of his father and figures that the same story happened to Ayman, whose girlfriend died a year prior his death. The movie kicks off with Mai telling what happened in the very end, where she is racing time to save Yaser from her brother, who is about to shoot him. She splits the story into two parts, the first concerning Ayman and the second concerning Yaser. Events are ambiguous a mysterious, but they unravel through the film.
