Amok (1983 Film)
''Amok'' is a 1983 Moroccan drama film directed by Souheil Ben-Barka. It won the Golden Prize at the 13th Moscow International Film Festival. Borrowing heavily of Alan Paton's Cry, the beloved country but putting the action in the context of the Soweto uprising, it tells the initiating journey of an old teacher from a backward Natal village to the conflict-ridden modern Johannesburg. Souheil Ben-Barka
Souheil Ben-Barka (born 25 December 1942) is a Moroccan film director, screenwriter and film producer. He directed seven films between 1974 and 2002. His 1975 film ''La guerre du pétrole n'aura pas lieu'' was entered into the 9th Moscow International Film Festival. His 1983 film '' Amok'' won the Golden Prize at the 13th Moscow International Film Festival. In 1987 he was a member of the jury at the 15th Moscow International Film Festival. Biography He was born in 1942 in Timbuktu, Mali. His father was a rich Moroccan merchant, and his mother was of Lebanese origin, her mother was of Armenian descent. He left Timbuktu at the age of 16. He spent a few years in Morocco before going to finish his higher education at Rome, Italy. George Ardisson
Giorgio Ardisson, best known as George Ardisson (31 December 1931 – 11 December 2014), was an Italian actor. Life and career Born in Turin, Ardisson debuted in a minor role in Mauro Bolognini's 1959 film ''Arrangiatevi!''. After several secondary roles in sword-and-sandal and adventure films, he gained a huge success playing Agent 3S3 in the eurospy films '' Agent 3S3: Passport to Hell'' and ''Agent 3S3, Massacre in the Sun''. According to director Sergio Sollima he was chosen for this role thanks to his physical appearance that made him credible as American. Claudio Gora, '' Emilio Giordana '' (27 July 1913 – 13 March 1998) was an Italian actor and film director. He was particularly prolific, making some 155 appearances in film and television over nearly 60 years (from 1939 to 1997). Edmund Purdom
Edmund Anthony Cutlar Purdom (19 December 19241 January 2009) was an English actor, voice artist, and director. He worked first on stage in Britain, performing various works by Shakespeare, then in America on Broadway and in Hollywood, and eventually in Italy. He is perhaps best known for his starring role in 1954's historical epic ''The Egyptian''. By taking over important roles exited by Mario Lanza and Marlon Brando, Purdom was known by the mid-1950s as "The Replacement Star". After the failure of his Hollywood career, Purdom returned briefly to the United Kingdom and then settled in Italy, where he spent the remainder of his life appearing in local films.
