Ammanuel Diressa
Ammanuel Gorfu Diressa (born May 5, 1993), is a Canadian professional basketball player for the Hamilton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). He represents Canada in international competition. He played college basketball for the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles and Ryerson Rams at what is now Toronto Metropolitan University. Early life Diressa was born in Toronto, Ontario, to an Ethiopian single parent mother, Almaz Diressa, and a Greek father who left the family and moved back to Greece. He attended Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute in Toronto. He averaged 17.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game in his senior year and lead his high school to win the South Region championship and the Toronto championship with a 37-7 record. 2018 U Sports Men's Basketball Championship
The 2018 U Sports Men's Final 8 Basketball Tournament was held March 8–11, 2018 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was hosted by Acadia University, which also hosted in 1971 on campus in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. The tournament was held at the Scotiabank Centre for the second consecutive year, and was the 31st time the tournament had been played in Halifax. For the first time in eight years—and just the third time in the past 16—a team other than the Carleton Ravens claimed the national title. The Calgary Dinos edged out the Ryerson Rams to take the championship. It was the first national title for Calgary, and the second consecutive appearance (and loss) in the final game for Ryerson. The 2017 U Sports Men's Final 8 Basketball Tournament was held March 9–12, 2017 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was hosted by Dalhousie University at the Scotiabank Centre, the first time since 1987 that Dalhousie hosted the tournament. Nipissing Lakers
The Nipissing Lakers are the athletic teams that represent Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario, Canada that compete in U Sports. The Lakers varsity programs compete in men's and women's basketball, ice hockey, volleyball, soccer, cross country running, rowing, and nordic skiing.
