Amel Mokhtar
Amel Mokhtar (; born February 4, 1964) is a Tunisian journalist and novelist. She has won several prizes, including the COMAR Special Prize in 2006 for her novel ''Māystrū'' (Maestro). Maktar
Maktar or Makthar ( ar, مكثر), also known by other names during antiquity, is a town and archaeological site in Siliana Governorate, Tunisia. Maktar was founded by the Berber Numidians as a defense post against Carthaginian expansion. At the end of the Third Punic War, it was settled by many Punic refugees after the Romans' destruction of Carthage in 146BC. Under Roman rule, it obtained the status of a free city under Julius Caesar in 46BC and became a Roman colony in AD146. It formed part of the province of Byzacena and was the seat of a Christian bishop. Under the Romans and Byzantines, it reversed its earlier role to serve as a defense post against local Berber attacks. The town survived the Muslim invasions but was destroyed by the Banu Hilal tribe in the 11thcentury before being reëstablished. The present town had a population of 13,576 in 2014. Siliana Governorate
Siliana Governorate ( ' ) is one of the twenty-four governorates (provinces) of Tunisia, is landlocked and is in the north of the country. It covers an area of 4,631 km2 and has a population of 223,087 (2014 census). The capital is Siliana. Geography The province is coextensive with the upper Oued Siliana (Siliana river) catchment which flows north. The land includes a largely fertile valley, tributary valleys, and rocky and forested uplands. It generally slopes north. COMAR D'Or
The COMAR d'Or is a series of Tunisian literary prizes created in 1996 by the Compagnie méditerranéenne d'assurances et de réassurances (COMAR), with the support of the Tunisian Ministry of Culture. The first award was given in 1997. Presented in April of each year at the Municipal Theater of Tunis, or at the Palais des Congrès in 2016 and 2017, these prizes award novels written in French or Arabic by Tunisian authors and published in the previous year. There are three levels of award: the main COMAR d'Or prize, the Committee's Special Prize and the Discovery Prize (for new authors).
